Simple Summer Eye look

Can you feel it? Fall is creeping in. There's fall fashion in the shops, and in all the magazines. Fall collections for nail polish, candles, and makeup are all coming out. School is looming just around the corner for the kids. But while Fall is pushing in from all sides, I am still loving summer. It's still beautiful outside, although we did have some very fall like temperatures last week. The sun is still shining, the weather is still hot, and summer is still in full swing. And today I am rocking a very summer appropriate eye look, that I thought I would share with you!

In the summer. I like super easy, quick looks, because I am always in a hurry to head outside and enjoy the sunshine. I also enjoy bright pops of color. This look combines both of those things. It's super simple. One shadow all over the lids, a bright blue eyeliner and lots of lengthening mascara. 

I started out by sweeping the maybelline color tattoo in barely branded all over my lids and into the inner corner of the eye. This is a gorgeous neutral pearly color with a nice sheen that is so pretty and natural looking on the eye. It's a cream product that dries down nicely, and I have zero creasing with these. I did a whole overview on the maybelline color tattoos in a previous blog post, which you can find here. I love these! 

Next, I lined my eyes with one of my all time favorite eyeliners. It's the Elf waterproof eyeliner pen. I love these. These felt tip eyeliners are amazing. They don't dry up super quickly, they are all amazingly pigmented, and they don't flake or transfer. And the best part is that they are only two dollars! I did a whole rave on these on my youtube channel, which you can find here. The one I used today is "teal" which is actually a pretty nice, bright blue. Not really teal at all. But it's stunning, and the blue is fantastic for summer! From far away this looks like just any old black eyeliner, but up close, the blue really pops! I kept the liner super close to the lash line towards the inner corner of the eye and then thickened it up and winged it out at the outer corner. It made for a more dramatic, but still daytime appropriate look. 

The only other thing I did was curl my lashes and then add some mascara. I used a super lengthening mascara, the Maybelline Great Lash Lots of Lashes. The wand on this mascara is awesome. It's wider at the bottom of the wand and comes up to a super tiny point that makes it perfect for getting into the inner corner of the eye and the little bottom lashes. This is one of the most lengthening mascaras I have tried, and I really love it! Bonus! I can get this mascara for just 4 bucks!! 

I finished off the rest of my face, keeping it very natural. I applied some foundation, some pink blush, and a nice neutral lip!

Brushes 101

Hi guys! I got a request on the budget beauty facebook fan page the other day to do an in-depth guide to brushes. I thought it was a great idea. It can be intimidating when you are first starting out with brushes knowing what brush should be used with what products, etc. The awesome girl that requested that I do this blog post has the 11 piece brush set from the elf studio line, and since I own that and love it as well, I figured I would go over each of those brushes, as well as some of the other brushes that I use on a daily basis.

First I will go over the Elf studio eleven piece brush set. This is a set available at eyeslipsface.com It includes 11 brushes, as well as a waterproof carrying case and can be purchased for 30 dollars.

Elf Blush Brush

The first brush that I am going to talk about it the Elf blush brush. This is a synthetic hair brush with a unique shape. It has a quite small brush head, making it good for precise application of blush, bronzer or highlighter. I do use this brush for blush sometimes, but my favorite thing to use this brush for is actually applying highlighter to my cheek bones. It's the perfect size for that, and since it's synthetic it can be used for powder or cream highlighting products.

Elf Powder Brush

This brush is quite possibly the most "famous" brush from Elf. It's a flat top synthetic brush that is very dense, which makes it perfect for applying a lot of different products. Many people use this brush to stipple on foundation. I, personally, do not use it for that very often (though I have). My favorite way to use this brush is exactly what it says on the handle. For powder. It's great for applying the perfect amount of powder to the face to set my foundation. It really buffs the powder into the skin leaving a beautiful finish.

Elf Angled Foundation Brush

I am going to be honest, I have never actually used this brush. I am sure it's a lovely brush, but I don't use this type of brush for foundation. I prefer a stipple type brush for liquid foundation over this paint brush style. Still, if you enjoy this sort of application for your foundation this is a good one for it. It's quite soft while still being stiff enough to work with. It has a nice angle that would be good for getting around the nose and cheek bones and the like. I can't really think of any other good use for this brush, which is the reason I have never used it.

Elf Complexion Brush

This is a great multi-purpose brush. You can use it to apply pretty much any powder product to your face, whether it be powder, blush or bronzer. I personally tend to use this for blush. I think it's the perfect size shape and density for that purpose. It's an incredibly soft brush, and dense enough that you can control exactly where the product goes. I really love this brush!

Elf Concealer brush

This little brush is a great concealer brush. It's large enough that it can be used under the eye without taking ages to blend the concealer in, but it's small enough for spot concealing. I like the shape of this brush as well as the size and use it for concealing all over the face!

Elf Fan brush

This is another brush that I don't get much use out of. When
I do use it, though, I tend to use it for a couple of different things. I have used this brush for highlighting my cheekbones in a pinch and it works nicely for that. But most often, I use it to wipe away fall out from powder eyeshadows and glitter. It's nice for sweeping that sort of thing away before applying foundation and powder.

Elf Eyeshadow "C" Brush

 Moving on to the eye brushes in this set, we have the elf eyeshadow "c" brush. It's indeed a "c" shaped brush, more commonly known as a shader brush. This is a nice, dense soft brush that I use for packing color on to my eyelids. It can be used in a pinch for blending as well.

Elf contour Brush

The next brush in the set is the Elf contour brush. This is a nice dome shaped brush that is great for working with contouring shades for the eye. It fits nicely in the crease of the eye and works well for adding depth and dimension to the eye. This is also a very nice eye blending brush, due to it's soft fluffy nature.

Elf small angled brush

This is one of my favorite brushes from the eleven piece brush set. Again, like all the other brushes in this set, it's synthetic and soft. The angle on this brush makes it perfect for filling in my eyebrows. It's also a great brush for cream or gel eyeliner, because the angle makes it easy to use on the lash line.

Elf small Smudge brush

This brush has a small brush head on it that I often use for smudging eyeliner or eyeshadow along the bottom lash line. It's also pretty good at smudging eyeliner for a smokey look. In a pinch, I have even used this brush to fill in my eyebrows. because it's so small, and has a bit of a domed tip, it's a very functional little brush.

Elf small precision Brush

This brush is very similar, in my opinion, to the small smudge brush. honestly, I don't see why you need both. They are both tiny little brushes. The only difference is this ones ends in a bit more of a point. I use this brush for all of the same things that I use the other one. I have also used this brush for applying a highlight to the inner corner of my eye, and ecen as a lip brush before. It's another versatile little brush.



So that does it for the elf eleven piece brush set. It's a great little set, but in my opinion, there are a few other brushes that you need to really complete the set. Some of them I have found from Elf, and a few others are from coastal scents. So I will go over a few more that I have purchased, love and use on a regular basis.

Elf stipple Brush

I bought this brush in the hope that it would work for powder blushes. It really doesn't, in my opinion. It's not dense enough for that. I also find that this brush is too floppy to apply liquid foundation with. honestly, I don't really use this brush for much. I wanted to include it because I know a lot of people do find that this brush works for those uses. Just because it doesn't work for me, doesn't mean it won't work for you.

Elf kabuki face brush

I love this brush. It's the perect size shape and density for applying powder, as well as blending out face products. Whenever I have applied my bronzer, I always go back in with this brush to blend out the edges and make it look natural and pretty!

Coastal Scents Powder Buffer Brush

 

 

Most of the brushes that I own and love are from Elf but I also have a nice collection of brushes from coastal Scents. I use them all occassionally, but this is the brush that I use every single day for foundation. It's nice and dense, and makes application of cream and liquid foundations easy peasy. The shape is perfect for getting in around my nose and mouth. The synthetic bristles make it perfect for not picking up and absorbing too much product. This is what I wanted the elf stipple brush to be. Love it!

Coastal Scents Angled Blush Brush

This is another coastal scents brush that I use on the regular. This is also the only natural hair brush that I use on a consistent basis. I believe this particular brush is goat hair. It's amazingly soft. It's dense, without being too dense, if that makes sense. I use this brush most often for contouring my cheekbones with bronzer. The angle makes it perfect for that. I love this brush and highly recommend it!

Elf professional powder Brush

So we're back to elf brushes now, but this and the rest of the brushes I am going to be talking about are from Elf's essential line. Each of these brushes cost 1 dollar and a lot of them are amazing. This is the elf professinal powder brush. It's a small brush. The name makes you think it's going to be a large powder brush, but the head of this brush is actually quite small. I use this brush for powdering under my eyes. I find that it's the perfect size for that, and since I use a lot of concealer under my eyes, I like to make sure that it is nicely set with a loose or pressed powder. This brush is ideal for that. This brush can also be used for contouring the face in a pinch!

Elf professional eyeshadow brush

This is another cult favorite in the beauty community. This little brush only costs a dollar and it rivals so many higher end brushes. It's just a flat shader brush. It's got shirt-ish bristles, and it's perfect for packing color onto the eyelids. It's easily one of my favorite brushes, and I own multiples of it, since it's just a dollar! Love this brush and highly recommend it!

Elf professional defining Eye Brush

I find this brush to be incredibly useful. It has a bit of an angle to it, which makes it nice for applying a brow bone highlight. I also use this for applying an inner corner highlight. It can also be used for creasework.

Elf professional crease brush

This tiny little brush head makes it perfect for applying color precisely into the crease. It's a super precise pencil style brush. You can place color exactly where you want it without having to worry about it going everywhere, due to the density and size of this brush.

Elf professional blending eye brush

This little beauty of a brush is a nice blending brush for the eye area. It's great for going back where you placed the eyeshadow with the crease brush and blending it out nicely. I wish that Elf made a fluffier version of this brush as well for even more blending options, but this one works well, and it's dense so it's easy to keep the eyeshadow exactly where you want it while you are blending.

Elf professional Brow Comb and Brush

I use this brush, along with the elf brow brush (which is just your basic spoolie) for grooming my eyebrows, as well as removing clumps from my eyelashes. It's a great basic brush that everyone needs in their collection in my opinion. And it's a great value at just a dollar.

Girls of Glee Inspired Makeup

Glee comes back tonight and I am so excited! I am a big fan of the television show! It mixes so many of my favorite things. Darren Criss, Music, Performing. So, in order to hype myself up even more than I already am for the season 4 premier, I decided to do a few makeup looks inspired by the girls of Glee. I decided to do makeup look inspired by Rachel Berry, Quinn Fabray and Tina Cohen-Chang. Now, Keep in mind that these looks are not meant to look exactly like the makeup worn by the characters. They simply inspired the looks.

For these looks I decided to use 3 of the Beauty on the Go palettes from Eyes lips face. I love these palettes! You can pop the different palettes into and out of the carrying cases so you can easily and quickly toss them into your purse on the way out the door. Such a cool premise!

For the Rachel Berry inspired look, I went super super natural. Rachel never wears a ton of makeup. In fact, if anything, it's just mascara and a little bit of lip color. So for her look, I went with the Tuscany Retreat palette. This is a beautiful palette. It's got purples and browns and a couple of darker shades. But, for the Rachel look, i went with two of the more neutral shades. First I primed my lid with the Elf eyelid primer to make my shadow last all day. Then, I put the lightest Matte shade all over the lid and under the brow for a nice matte brow bone highlight. Then, I took the matte brown in the palette and very lightly traced out my crease, and brought the tiniest amount along the lower lash line. After that, I curled my lashes, and to get those Rachel Berry voluminous, separated eyelashes, I used two coats of Covergirl Lash Blast Volume mascara in Brown Black.

For the face, Rachel has flawless skin. I do not, however have flawless skin. But I wanted the look to be quite natural and dewy. So I used Elf's tinted moisturizer in Nude. Then, I took the peachy nude blush from the Tuscany Retreat palette and dusted it lightly over my cheeks. I finished off the look with the lighter of the two lip colors in the palette.

Rachel Berry Inspired Makeup

For Quinn's look, I wanted something pretty and pink. I was inspired by the makeup hat Quinn had a lot in the first Season. Think Cheerio Quinn, before she got pregnant. So I went with the Day at the Beach Palette. This palette has a ton of neutral shades, and a pretty pink blush that just screamed Quinn to me! Now, Quinn doesn't wear a ton of makeup either, but she's less conservative than Rachel. So for this Quinn inspired look, I first primed my lids with the Elf eyelid primer. Then I took the shimmery cream color and put that all over my lid. I took the shimmery medium brown in the palette and placed that in my outer corner to give the eyes some dimension. Then I took the deep matte brown and placed a small amount of that in the crease of the eye. I used the Matte cream color as my brow highlight. Then, for an awake look, I took a white eyeliner and blended a bit of it along the inner corner of my eye. Next, I lined super close to my upper lash line using the Elf waterproof eyeliner pen in Coffee. I finished off the eyes with a bit of the Maybelline Falsies Mascara. Quinn has super long lashes, and I think this mascara is perfect for this look.

For my skin, I used the same tinted moisturizer as I did for the Rachel look. I used a bit of NYC liquid concealer under my eyes to brighten up that area. Then, I applied the pretty pink blush from the day at the beach palette. On my lips, I used the brighter pink from the palette, and topped it off with the Elf luscious liquid lipstick in Nude pink.

Quinn Fabray inspired Makeup

Lastly, I wanted to do a look inspired by Tina Cohen-Chang. I LOVE Tina's character. I was especially inspired by her makeup in Season 1 and 2. Very bright, and in your face. unfortunately, the colors that Tina normally would wear don't exactly look good on me. So this makeup look is the most loosely inspired look of the three. I decided to create a look that would be more appropriate for night. Dark eyeshadow, and winger liner. So I went with the Night on the Town Palette. This palette is perfect for a dark night look or a smokey eye. Lots of blacks and greys and a few neutral tones as well. For this Tina inspired look I first primed my eyes with the Elf eyelid primer (are you noticing a trend here? I LOEV the elf eyelid primer. It really helps the eyeshadow to stick and last all day. Then, I went into the light shimmer grey of the palette and put that all over the lid. I went with the dark matte grey for my crease and to darken up the outer corner of the eye. I took the tiniest amount of the matte black and darkened up the outer corner even furthur. I took the matte white shade and placed it under the brow bone for a high light and blended it really well. Then, to warm up the look a little bit I took the neutral cream color and placed that at my brown bone as well, and also in my inner corner. Then, using Elf's cream eyeliner in black, I lined the eyes and winged out the liner. Winged eyeliner is very Tina-esque, I think don't you? I curled my eyes lashes and again used Maybelline the Falsies mascara. This mascara can be hard to work with. It clumps like crazy on me. But this mascara is DRAMA in a tube, so for this look, I worked with it, layering it on for drama drama drama.

For my face I again used the Elf tinted moisturizer in Nude. I powdered the look with a light dusting of Elf HD powder. Then I applied the deep blush from the night on the town palette. I applied it with a very light hand and made sure to blend it really well. This blush is intense! But I love it. For the lips, I used the reddish color from the palette and topped it off with the Elf Luscious liquid lipstick in Ruby Slipper. you can see, from the photo that this makeup is the least like the character's I was inspired by, but I still like it for a dramatic evening look, don't you?

Tina Cohen-Chang Inspired makeup

Fall Eyeshadow tutorial

I wanted to do an eyeshadow tutorial for the look that I featured in my last outfit/face/nail of the day post. So, I went ahead and filmed me doing it. I talk a lot in the video, and generally make a fool out of my self trying to find products without my glasses, but I decided to upload it anyway, because it's the easiest way for me to show you guys how I created the look. Please be kind if you watch this video. I am aware that I look like a fool. haha.

I should note that I didn't re-create the EXACT look that I featured in the face of the day. When I created that eyeshadow look I used three different eyeshadow palettes to do it, and that was just ridiculous, so I pared it down to one. I used the BH cosmetics 120 colors palette, which I have not given much love lately, and I am very happy with the way that the look turned out. I hope you find this tutorial helpful, or otherwise just enjoy having a laugh at me in this video.

Hair tutorial: super easy sock bun!

As you all know if you have been reading my blog, I have very curly, frizzy hair that can be a pain to work with. I have to put a lot of product in it to look nice, or else use a lot of heat. And failing that, when I don't have a lot of time, I tend to do a lot of pony tails. It's just the simplest, fastest way to get my hair looking decent. But on days when I don't have a ton of time, and don't want a simple pony tail, I have been doing a sock bun. It's super cute, super easy, and a great summer look that I think will will also be great in the fall time. It's so chic!




There are several different ways to do a sock bun. This one is my favorite!

What you need:
A sock similar to your hair color (I used black)
Scissors
hair ties
comb
hair spray
bobby pins

1. The first thing you need to do is cut off the toe of the sock you are going to use. I think this is a great way to use those socks that have inevitably lost their mate. After you have cut off the toe, roll the sock in on itself so that it forms a donut shape. (you can also buy hair donuts already made, but why waste your money? a sock does the same thing, plus you get to use up your single socks!)

2. Comb your hair and pull it back into a pony tail. you can do it at whatever height you want. If you want a high bun, start out with a high pony tail. If you want a lower bun, start out with a lower pony tail.

3. pull your pony tail through the hair donut you made from the sock so that the sock covers the hair tie you used to secure your pony tail

4. Pull the hair donut down to the bottom of the pony tail.

5. Start rolling your hair up the hair donut. Make sure that all of your ends get tucked under as you roll the donut up.

6. continue rolling until you reach the top of your pony tail

7. Secure is you wish with bobby pins and spray it all with hair spray to keep it in place.

Tricks and Tips for Bold Lips!

Hi everyone! I hope you're having a pleasant start to the week! Today, I want to talk to you guys about bold lip colors. It's almost summer, and one of my favorite looks in the summer is minimal make up and bold lips. I think it's such a fun look! It also can be pretty intimidating if you're used to wearing soft pink and nude lips colors. Almost more intimidating than red lips! Bold lip colors automatically get attention. They are like a neon sign saying look at me! Which means the application has to be flawless. This can scare some people off. But I've got a few tips to make pulling off bold and bright lip colors easy peasy!

!. Exfoliate!!

Because bright and bold lip colors draw attention to your lips you want them looking flawless. The most important thing to remember when applying any cold lip color (or any lip color at all really) is to exfoliate your lips. This will sluff off all of the dead skin cells so your lips aren't looking peeled and cracked. You can buy lip scrubs at the drugstore, but I prefer a DIY method. I simply take a lip balm and apply it heavily to my lips (I like to use carmex, but any lip balm will do! You could even use vaseline!) Then rub some coarse sugar on top of the lip balm. Rub the mixture all around on your lips, and then rinse away the remaining balm/sugar. Then apply another layer of lip balm to moisturize your lips! Super easy, and leaves your lips looking and feeling amazing!

2.Lip liner!
It's important when using bold colors that you use a lip liner. This will prevent your lip stick from moving out beyond your lip line. With more neutral or subtle lipsticks, you don't really have to worry about this so much. But when you are wearing a bright or bold color, if it moves or feathers, it tends to look a little crazy! I like to line just outside my natural lip line, and also fill in the lips entirely with the liner. This gives me lipstick something to hold on to, and also allows me to touch up less often! Makes fading lipstick just a tad less noticeable!

3. Keep the rest of your makeup subtle!
The last thing you want to do is look like a clown! The combination of bright bold lips and bold eye make up can make you look like you should be wearing the big shoes and clown wig. When you're going with bold lip colors, be sure to keep the rest of your face make up neutral. I suggest keeping your outfit fairly neutral as well. The attention should be all about the lips!

4. Lip Brush
I recommend applying your bold lip color with a lip brush. This allows for even application, and a steadier hand. This way your lipstick goes where you want it to, and not all over your face!

5. Choose colors that compliment your skintone.
Not all bold colors are created equal. You can't just grab any shade of bright lipstick and smear it on. Make sure you test the color against your skintone to be sure that the color compliments you. You'll know when you swatch the lipstick whether you like the way it looks or not!

Now, I thought I would show you some of my favorite bold lip colors from my collection! You'll notice, once again, a lot of Elf products! This is because I love their products, and also because they are so inexpensive. Spending a dollar on a lipstick is a great way for me to see if I like the look of that color. Especially with bold colors I like this. That way, if I find that I feel like I can't pull off the look, I only wasted a dollar! And if I find that I DO like the look than in the future I can invest in a more expensive lip color.

Revlon Lip Butter in Raspberry pie- I love this color. It's a bright and bold raspberry color. It can be layered on for a bold look, or worn subtly. It's got a gorgeous sheen to it. This is my ultimate go to bold lip color. I love it!

NYC Ruby- this is a great, inexpensive lip stick. I think I purchased it for around a dollar. I bought it thinking it might be a great red. It turned out not to be red, but I love it anyway. It's a fuschia color with shimmer in it, and great when I want that bold look.

Elf Lipstick in Sociable- this color is bright! It's a blue toned pinky-red with glitter in it! I am not normally a fan of glitter in my lipstick, but this just works somehow. It definitely screams LOOK AT ME!

Elf lipstick in Flirtatious- this is a bubblegum pink with a nice sheen to it. It can be worn very subtly, which I love. But if you build it up it becomes this bold beautiful barbie pink!

Elf lipstick in Captivating- This is a classic example of why I buy elf lipsticks. This color is orange! I would never ever be brave enough to try orange lipstick if it wasn't for the 1$ price tag on this. But I love it!

If you try all these tips and you still feel like you can't pull off a bold lipstick, you can always go a bit more subtle and go for a brightly colored lip gloss. application is easier, much less stress to worry about, and you can still achieve a beautiful color. Just pulled a few glosses out of my collection that would work for that bold lip look without all the fuss!

Urban Decay lip junkie lip gloss in crush- a more expensive option, but this is a bright pink opaque lip gloss. one of my faves!
elf conditioning lip balm in mellow melon- a melon colored lip balm gives a nice color and sheen without being too in your face.

St Patty's Day Eye Tutorial

I am Irish. I also love the color green. So it was only obvious to me that I had to do a St. Patty's Day look for you all! I had a blast creating the look. I did not however have a blast photographing it. I am no photographer. The glitter in this look in combination of the dreary day outside (no natural lighting) and my lousy photographing skills means that the photos are not at all great. I took the best ones, zoomed em in a bit and cropped out everything but the eye look. Hopefully that will give you an idea of how this looks. The photographs just do not do it justice.But hopefully you can get a feel for how sparkly this is or pretty the green and gold are together!





I started off this look by priming my eyelids with the Elf eye primer in Sheer. I blended the primer with my fingers from my lash line to my brow bone and also brought a little bit down below my lower lash line. Then I took the Maybelline Color tattoo in Bold Gold and applied a little bit on the lid with my finger, blending it out really well. This makes for a great base for the eye shadows to stick to and also makes for a beautiful gold glittery undertone which is perfect for St. Patty's Day in my opinion!

I allowed that to set for a minute and then, using an Elf eyeshadow brush I patted Urban Decay's Chronic (a matte green) all over my lid. Then, using a pencil brush I applied a glittery green from one of the elf duos that came with the duo eyeshadow set I recently got in my mystery bag and applied that to the outer corner of the eye and slightly up into the crease of the eye. I also applied some of this same color to my lower lash line. Next, with that same pencil brush I took the crease shade from the wet n wild walking on eggshells palette and applied that into the crease and blended it up, so that there were no harsh lines. I used Urban Decay's Midnight cowgirl under my brow bone and patted lightly over the whole lid for a pretty highlight and some overall sparkle.

Next, I took the Elf shimmer eye liner pencil in twinkle teal, smudged it along my lash line and blended it well with a smudge brush so that it blended with the rest of the eye look and did not appear as a harsh line. Then, using the elf waterproof eyeliner Pen in black I lined really close to my upper lash line. I curled my lashes using my elf mechanical eyelash curler and applied two coats of maybelline falsies mascara in black. I also applied a bit to my bottom lashes as well.

Lastly, I went back in with the maybelline color tattoo in bold gold and applied a tiny bit on the inner corner of each eye for a pop or drama and glitter. This also helped open up my eyes.

I think this look would be perfect for an St. Patrick's Day party. Keep the rest of the face simple since this is a more dramatic and glittery eye look. Apply a bronze-y blush and a pink gloss and you would be good to go.

$5 eye look: a pop of color

Here I have an eye look that can be recreated for $5 or less. That includes to tools used for the look. For this one, the only tool I used was the sponge tip applicator that came with the eyeshadow palette and an eyelash curler!

I started off by applying my elf eyelid primer from lash line to brown bone. Next, I used the white shade in the top row of the L.A. colors trendy palette. I placed this in the inner corner of my eyes and used it as my brow bone highlight. Then I took the second lightest shade in the top row of the palette and used this as my all over lid color. Lastly, I used the darkest shade in the top row of the palette. I used this to darken up my outer corner and crease. I blended the shadows out with my finger to lighten up the look and make it look more natural and soft.

Next, I lined my eyes. I used the teal eyeliner. I concentrated on applying the eyeliner very close to my lash line at the inner corner of my eyes and gradually widened the line, so that it was widest at the outer corner of my eye. I smudged this line just a bit to make it look less harsh.

Lastly, I curled my lashes with my elf mechanical eyelash curler and applied two coats of waterproof mascara to help hold the curl.

Valentine's Day Night Look

For my valentine's day night look, I wanted to do a classic smoky eye, but I thought that it is a look that just about everyone knows how to do. Still, it's a classic look, and appropriate for a lot of evening occasions so I thought I would do it anyway and put my own twist on it. So here's what I came up with.



Products used:

Face:
Rimmel Fix and Perfect pro face primer
NYC skin matching foundation in Light
NYC liquid concealer in light (under eyes and blemishes)
Cover Girl fresh complexion pocket powder foundation in medium light (just on my t-zone)
LA colors blush in toast (along my cheekbones)
Elf blush and bronzer duo (blush on apples of my cheeks, bronzer as a contour in the hollows of my cheeks and on my temples)
NYC smooth skin bronzing powder in sunny (all over)

Eyes:
Elf eyelid primer
Maybelline color tattoo in pomegranate punk (all over the lid as an eyeshadow base- this will help the eyeshadow last all day and also give a subtle undertone to the eye look that is unexpected, but beautiful- plus the color helps bring out the green in my eyes!)
Elf beauty on the go palette in Date Night (more specific colors down below)
Elf shimmer eyeliner pencil in black (smudged along the lower and upper lash line)
Elf cream eyeliner in black (more precise on upper lash line and to wing the liner)
Maybelline Falsies Mascara in black (upper and lower lashes)

EYESHADOW:


Ok, after I applied the color tattoo eyeshadow all over my lid, I used my Beauty on the go palette in date night to create the smoky eye. I used the color I marked above as 7 all over my lid. It's a matte cream color. Very neutral. On top of that I applied color #2 which is a shimmery cream color on the inner half of the eyelid. On the outer half I used color #3, which is a matte silver color. I darkened up the outer corner with #10, a matte black and also applied that same matte black very carefully into my crease. I also liner my eyes with the same black to act as a base for my eyeliners, which I applied next. Once my eyes were all lined, I went back to my beauty on the go palette and used the color #5, the shimmery black on the very outside corner of my eye, to add some dimension and sparkle, and to once again darken up that corner. Then I went back in with Color #2 along the inner corner to brighten that back up. I finished up my doing an under brow highlight in color #7. (hopefully that explained it well enough. It's hard when the colors don't have names! haha)
