Drink more water! 6 Tips to help you stay hydrated!

I don't know about you, but for me, it's always a struggle to drink enough water. It's not that I don't like water. I do. I mean, as much as anyone can like water. I just forget to drink it! I never forget to have my morning coffee, mind you! But water is just one of those things that I don't crave. The benefits of drinking water are numerous. There's no disputing that. So I make an effort to remind myself to drink enough. I thought i'd share with you some of the tricks that I have found that help me keep hydrated!

1. Invest in a cute water bottle
I don't know what it is, but drinking water is just so much more fun when I am drinking it out of a super cute water bottle. Water bottles come in numerous sizes, shapes and designs. So pick up one that suits your aesthetic tastes and I promise you, you will be much more likely to drink from it.

2. Hydrate stickers in your planner/journal
Do you write in a daily journal/planner/calendar? Chances are, if you work in an office setting, are a busy mom or have a schedule to keep track of, you do. Especially if you are paper planning, this is a great place to leave yourself little reminder notes to drink water! Tons of etsy shops have planner stickers available, and one of my favorites is the hydrate sticker. It's just a cute little sticker you can pop in your planner or journal and mark off each time you drink water! I love using them to keep track of my hydration in my planner! My personal favorite hydrate sticker comes from the sticker shop Oh, hello Stationery Co. But there are tons of options!

3. There's an app for that
If you aren't into paper planning, or are really just more of a techie, there's an app to help remind you to hydrate and keep track of your water consumption. Several in fact. My favorite app for tracking water intake is Aqualert. It's a free app that let's you track how much water you drink and gives you notification reminders to be sure to drink water. This is an android app. Not sure if it's available for Iphone. But, all you have to do is type "track your water intake" and any number of apps will pop up. Just choose the one that works best for you and get to sipping!

4. Use a straw
Speaking of sipping, I highly recommend you use a straw to sip your water.  Seems to me that large amounts of water just go down easier when you're drinking through a straw. (The USDA recommends you get 8-12 cups of water a day!)

 5. Infuse your water with fruit
There are some people that just don't like water. If you're one of those people, I recommend you flavor your water. There are loads of powder-y things you can add to your water to flavor it, but I am not a fan of those. If I want to add flavor to my water I like to do it naturally, with fruit. Everyone is familiar with the concept of squeezing a little lemon in their water. I love that. But I've also been known to add fruit such as strawberries, or watermelon to my water for some added flavor. You can buy special fruit infuser bottles or you can just toss the fruit directly into the water. Some of my favorite things to add to my water to flavor it are the aforementioned lemon, cucumbers, strawberries and mint or frozen watermelon chunks. You can add anything you like to make water more tasty. Obviously the tastier it is the more likely you are to drink it!

6. Make it part of your daily routine
This might seem like a no-brainer, but this is actually the tip that helps me the most out of all of them. And that's just, build drinking water into your everyday routine. I have a big bottle of water that I carry with me everywhere I go, and make drinking from it a top priority. I have water every morning with my coffee, and it's just become a habit to fill the bottle with ice and water while I am waiting for my coffee to brew. I have water as a beverage with every meal and now it has become a habit to fill a glass at the same time that I fill my dinner plate. I also have a habit of drinking 8-10 ounces of water before every meal. Not only does it help me to stay hydrated, but it also helps me to eat less. Bonus!

So there ya have it. There are 6 quick tips to keeping yourself hydrated easily and effectively. I hope you have found this helpful! What are some of the ways that you remind yourself to drink, drink, drink?! Leave a comment in the comment's section! I would love to hear from you!!
