Fall 2013 Nail Polish Picks

I feel like I just shared with you my summer picks (technically I did, I was wayyy late to that party) and here it is time to share with you all my fall polish picks. These are the polishes from my nail polish collection that I am most excited about wearing this fall. These are some pretty classic fall shades. I love dark, vampy shades in the fall as well as those sort of ugly pretty cement colors, and some darker glitters. So without furthur ado, let's get into it! OPI "Color so Hot it Berns"- This is a gorgeous true red that makes it one of those classic reds that are fantastic all year round, but I find myself wearing reds MUCH more often in the fall, of course into the winter/holiday season! "Color so Hot it Berns" is a polish that I currently only own in a mini size, but would love to have it in the full size at some point. The formula is good, the color is gorgeous! The only not so great thing is the price point. I really never like shelling out more than 5 bucks for a polish, and OPI's full size polishes run around 9 dollars. But this one is so pretty, it might just be worth the investment!

Revlon Top Speed "Stormy"- This is one of those ugly pretty colors I was referring to. It's a gorgeous sort of  mushroom taupe-y color. Sort of the color of wet cement. I just love this sort of color in the fall. I feel like it's a great darker neutral! The formula on this polish is great! It applies easily, with no problems, is opaque in two coats and dries at top speed!

Sinful Colors Sinfulshine "Steel Reserve" This is a great dark steel gray polish that looks amazing on my skin tone! The sinfulshine polishes are amazing because they dry to a super shiny finish that just looks flawless! You don't even need a top coat! Of course, I always add one to keep my polish lasting a little longer, but you could totally skip that step. These polishes are super affordable, and available exclusively at walgreens, if I am not mistaken. They cost just $2.99!

Revlon "Scandalous"- This is one of my all time favorite polishes! It's a sheer black jelly base with large pieces of fuchsia glitter! This one was originally released under the name "Facets of Fuchsia" and it's just stunning. The base is a bit sheer, so I layer this one on top of a black polish for best results! The glitter in this one keeps it lasting AGES! It's a pain to get off the nail, but I don't mind because once I get it on I am never in a hurry to take it off!

Ulta "Material Girl" This is one of the newer polishes to my collection. I picked it up in a haul with about 7 other Ulta polishes back when they were on sale for just 2 bucks a piece. I am so glad I did because this is stunning. It's sort of a wine/berry shade with a TON of small holographic glitter in it that is just so pretty! I can't even tell you how much I adore this polish!

Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear "Blue It" This is another super affordable polish that you NEED in you collection if you don't have it already. It's a darker blue, but it is also a bit bright, and it has sort of a metallic finish. Ok, yeah, I am terrible at describing colors, but I think the swatch speaks for itself. It's stunning, and a great fall polish on days when you want something less vampy, but still not too bright. This one is opaque in just one coat! Can't beat that!

E.L.F. "Copper" This is my favorite Elf polish. I love copper and bronze shades especially in the fall. It's that color of leaves turning color and it's a great polish for my skin tone. Elf's copper is a great formula and a great finish and the color is just right, in my opinion. I don't have anything else to say about it. I will just let the swatches speak for themselves!

China Glaze "Harvest Moon" is similar in color to Elf's Copper, but different enough that I felt it necessary to include this one as well, because it is so pretty! It's got tons of shimmer in it which makes it so beautiful. It's also a bit more bronze-y rather than copper. China Glaze makes some really amazing polishes, and I highly recommend you check them out if you haven't already. Especially this shade! It just screams FALL to me!


Rimmel London 60 Seconds "Sage all the Rage" I just did a nail of the day post on this polish. It's so pretty. I love a light, sage green, and this polish did not disappoint. I picked it up for just a dollar fifty, which is an amazing price. This polish dries super fast, and the color is just so pretty. I'd consider it a nice neutral for the fall time, because even though it's green, it's a pretty neutral shade of green and I feel like it would go with anything!

E.L.F."Chocolate" Beware of this polish because it will stain your nails if you are not careful and apply the proper base coat. But I think it's worth the risk because this beautiful, chocolate brown color is perfect for fall. It's a great alternative to black, in my opinion. Brown matches with everything, so it's a great neutral, but this deep chocolate shade isn't boring. I think it's so pretty. It dries to a nice shine, but I love adding a matte top coat to it because the color handles that finish so well.

OPI "Lincoln Park After Dark" This is such a cult classic color and is always included in people's fall polish picks, so I almost left it out, but I can't. It's the newest polish in my collection and I just love it. It's a so dark it's almost black purple that is just gorgeous. Purple is my favorite color, so of course, I would love this, and the dark dark nature of this makes this the perfect vampy autumn color! I haven't even worn this one yet and I already know it's going to be one of my all time fave polishes. OPI's formula is notoriously good and this color is just so "me"

Sinful Colors "Calypso" This might be my favorite out of all the polishes I have "picked" for fall. Seriously, if you only get one polish from this list, make it be Calypso! This color is a gorgeous, deep green that looks almost black in some lighting. It's so pretty. The formula on this polish is amazing. It is completely opaque in one coat, and this polish did not chip on me for 5 days! Not bad at all considering this polish will run you just $1.99! And I was lucky and caught it when it was on sale at walgreens for just 99 cents! Score!

Mani Monday: Dots

Hello everyone and happy Monday! I hope the start of your week is treating you well. I find myself looking forward to Mondays more often than not these days and it's all because of Mani Mondays. It's an awesome group of polish loving ladies on facebook. Each week, we all get together and post our manis, which are created around a theme. This week's theme is dots, and I couldn't wait to pull out my dotting tools and create an awesome dotticure!

I decided, rather than doing dots on all my nails, that I would focus on some dotted accent nails. I started out by painting my middle and ring fingers a gorgeous light pink by wet n wild megalast line in Sugar Coat. It's super pretty, and for such a light colored polish, I was surprised to see it opaque in two coats. I love the megalast line of polishes, as you well know if you've been reading my blog for a while, and this is one of my faves!

I then painted my pinkie, index finger and thumb in a beautiful shade from Elf, called Dazzle Diva. This one is sort of hard to describe. It's sort of a grey-blue-green shade with a subtle pink shimmer. It's very unique. This polish is a bit thick, which meant dry time was a little slower than I would have liked, but I think the color is worth the wait!

Then, with one of my smallest dotting tools, I went into that same, dazzle diva shade and dotted on top of my accent nails to bring the look together.

All in all I am very satisfied with the overall look of this mani! I like that the dots are prominent but not so over the top, making this a more subtle dotticure!

May 2013 Polish Picks!

I know in my last blog I talked about how I was going to try to bring more non-related polish posts here, and I swear, that is the intent. If you are looking for more than just polish content, and are impatient with the slow pace of this blog (I am sorry I swear it will get better) you can always check out my youtube channel. I try to post three videos a week. Generally on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and there's a wide variety of topics covered there. You can find it here! 

Now that that little disclaimer is out of the way, it's time to share with you all my polish picks for May. These are all the manis I wore in May, and there are a ton of polishes to get through, so let's just jump right into it!

The first mani that I am going to share with you all is a bright bubblegum pink polish from the wet n wild megalast line of polishes. I have raved to you guys on and on about this brand in the past, so I will spare you the details of how much I adore the brush and formula, and simply state that this pretty pink is another home run from the line. It's a nice cream formula that glides on like a dream. And for a bit of sparkle, I added a coat of a shades of the season polish. It's a pink and holographic glitter top coat that you can't really see much in the picture, but it made for a gorgeous mani! Not the easiest to remove, but with the foil method, it didn't give me much trouble!

One of my goals for the month of May was to try out some of the polishes that have been sitting on my shelf for a while that I hadn't used yet. This is one of those polishes. It's a pretty sage green with a sort of metallic shift to it, and it's Sage in the City from the Wet n Wild Fast Dry line. I don't like the fast dry polishes quite as much as the megalast polishes from wet n wild, but they are still pretty good. They do dry relatively fast, and they seem to all be named for television shows, which is fun. This sage green was very pretty, though I am not sure it really suits my skin tone. It was definitely something different than what I usually wear, and I am sure that it will get a lot of use in the future, maybe as nail art, or just an accent nail, since it's not the best color ever on me. The formula was very nice, and applied easily so that's a big plus!

I apologize for the very bad quality photo above. I took this photo immediately after polishing before I cleaned up the edges and before I even put on a top coat. I wanted you guys to be able to see how shiny this polish was all on it's own. And the color is amazing! This is Through the grapevine by wet n wild from their megalast collection. It's a gorgeous grape purple that I was instantly drawn to when I Saw it in the store. This applied beautifully, was opaque in one coat, and the color is just beautiful. One of my favorite polishes from my ever growing collection of wet n wild megalast polishes!

This brings us to mid month when I got my ipsy glam bag for May. Inside was this little beauty. This is Zoya's Blu from their spring 2013 collection. It is a gorgeous pastel baby blue. This polish applied like a dream! I had never tried zoya polishes before. Mainly because of their 8 dollar price tag! I like to keep my polish purchases to the 5 dollars or less side of things. But, Blu's formula sold me, and I may just be picking up a couple more polishes from Zoya in the near future to try! I liked this a lot!

This photo doesn't do this polish that I wore on my toes for May justice at all. I wish I had gotten a better photograph, but this is a cult favorite polish, so I am sure there's tons of swatches online if you are interested in a better look. This is China Glaze's Flip Flop Fantasy. It's a bright neon pinky-orange that is perfect for summer. This polish is matte, as most neons are, so you need a top coat if you are interested in that shiny look. I didn't think that was necessary on my toes, though, so I am wearing it matte and it makes me look soooo tan! It's a great bonus. I love this polish, especially for the toes, and I highly recommend it if you're in the market for a great summer pedi color!

The next color I wore on my fingernails is the sinful colors polish in timbleberry. It's a darker pink color that I really like a lot. My husband actually picked this polish out, and I did an emergency mani in the car, which is why the paint job is terrible, but the color is beautiful, the formula was great, and I have no complaints. You know how much I love sinful colors polishes if you have been reading my blog awhile, and this one is one of my faves!

Next up is a color that I think is great for summer! It's another wet n wild fast dry polish in the color 9.0.2.1. orange. It's a nice mid toned orange with a ton of cold shimmer running through it. It's not your average nail polish for sure, and I got quite a few compliments when I wore this one. I think this would be an awesome polish for the toes as well, at the beach! The formula on this was great Dried super fast and lasted for a good four days before it started to wear a bit around the tips of the nail. I was so impressed with the lasting power!

I saw a manicure on someone (and of course, I can't remember now who it was, sorry) on youtube, and it was a sort of turqoise green polish with a silver accent nail and decided to re-create it. I used the color Rise and shine from sinful colors on my main nails. Now this looks blue in the picture, and no matter what light I tried to photograph it in, it looked blue, but this polish is not blue. It's a sort of bright green with a lot of blue in it. It's a beautiful sort of st patrick's day shamrock green, if you get what I am saying. And it's a beautiful polish. It applied sort of sheer, but three coats got it opaque! And then for the accent nail I used Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear polish in the color celeb city. It's just a really nice metallic silver. And then to add just a hint of something extra I used a silver glitter polish from shades of the seasons on top. I LOVED the way this turned out!

My memorial day nails are next. I decided to keep that same beautiful silver accent nail, and just spice up the other nails. The blue I used pn my pointer and pinkie fingers is an Elf polish called Dark Navy, and on top of that I used 2 coats of China Glaze's mosaic madness which is just a blue and black chunky glitter polish. I really wanted sparkle for this festive mani! The red I used is WEt n Wild Megalast in I red a good book, and I used a red shades of the season glitter polish on top for that bit of bling. I liked this a lot. It looks really sloppy in the photo, but it looked much better in real life. Elf's dark navy was a mini polish from a set that I got a while back, and it was a bit thick and hard to wrk with, but the rest of the polishes applied just dandy and the overall finished look was great!

Lastly I went for some super simple nail art. I applied A Julep polish in Dendrie as my base color. It's a beautiful cream formula dove grey color. And then I used a dotting tool that I got from amazon (a set of 5 dotting tools cost me about two dollars shipped) and did some fun polka dots in the color coral reef from sally hansen xtreme wear. The grey from julep applied nicely. There were a couple bubbles, but nothing unmanageable. I have found that in general, I am not crazy about Julep polishes. Their formula is really inconsistent. Sometimes you get an amazing polish, and other times it's thick and hard to work with. This was somewhere in between. I like this one pretty well. The color is fantastic. Coral reef is a gorgeous coral color that is just beautiful and applies wonderfully. I have yet to be disappointed with a sally hansen xtreme wear polish. This was just another hit!

Beautiful Blues: A Guide to Blue nail polish!

I enjoyed bringing you all a guide to purple nail polishes from the drugstore so much that I decided to give you all an overview of some more of my polishes. This time it's blues! I have quite a few polishes to show you and compare for you, so I will just get right into it.

1. Zoya Blu- $8

The first polish I will share with you is the polish that has most recently entered my nail polish collection. I just received this in my May Ipsy Bag. This is a beautiful opaque baby blue. There is a lot of white in this polish. It's very, very opaque. You can get full coverage in just one coat, which is what you see in the swatch above. It's a great formula. This is the first Zoya nail polish that I have tried, and I really love the formula. It's a but more expensive than the other blues I have to share with you, but I think that the formula makes it worth it.

2. Sinful Colors Cinderella- $2

This is another very pale blue, but this differs from Zoya Blu because it has a lot of silver micro shimmer running through it. It is a beautiful color. I have said before that Sinful Colors is a great brand because it's super inexpensive and there is a huge variety of colors. Cinderella is a must have polish if you love blues as much as I do. It is opaque in just two coats!

3. Sinful Colors Endless Blue- $2

The picture for this polish does not do it justice at all. Endless Blue is a beautiful deep bright blue that is gorgeous. It is a cream formula, and it is opaque in just two coats. I wish I had a better picture to better represent how truly beautiful and unique this color is. It's a must have blue in my opinion, and can't be beat for 2 dollars!

4. Sinful Colors Nail Junkie- $2

Sinful Colors also does a ton of really awesome glitter polishes. Nail Junkie is chock full of small pieces of blue and green glitter. There is so much glitter in this that it is totally opaque on it's own. You can layer this on top of another polish, but it's not necessary. It can be worn on it's own. It's a beautiful shade, and a must have, in my opinion, if you like glitter as much as I do! Also, you can see a much better representation of Sinful Colors Endless Blue in this photo to the right of Nail Junkie. You can see how deep but bright the color is.

5. Wet n Wild Wild Shine in Blue Moon- $1

Blue Moon is a gorgeous, super inexpensive blue from Wet n Wild. At just one dollar, this is a fantastic value. It's a deep, navy blue with some super finely milled green shimmer running through it that makes this color truly unique, especially for the one dollar drugstore price tag. I have a couple of the Wild Shine line of polishes from Wet n Wild and they are all very nice quality for the price. If you're looking for a navy polish with some shimmer, this might just be the one for you.

6. NYC Long Wearing Nail polish in Empire State Blue- $1

This is another super budget friendly blue polish. This time, from the brand New York Color. You can get the long wearing version of NYC polishes for under a dollar at most drugstores. I personally get mine from walmart. Empire State Blue is a medium toned, brighter blue, and this one, too, has some green micro shimmer. I like these sort of blues a lot. The Long Wearing formula isn't the best ever. It gets opaque in 2-3 coats, and lasts about 3-4 days without chipping with a good top coat.



7. China Glaze Mosaic Madness- $6-$8 dollars

Now for something completely different. If you are looking for some dark blue chunky glitter to top one of your favorite polishes, look no furthur than Mosaic Madness from China Glaze. I LOVE this polish. China Glaze makes some amazing chunky glitter top coats. Mosaic Madness has small, medium and large pieces of glitter as well as bar glitter. It's very pretty and very unique! The price for China Glaze ranger from 6-8 dollars, from my experience, and they can be found at Sally Beauty Supply.

8. Revlon Princess- $5

This is a very unique color, and one of my favorite blues in my collections. It's a very frosty, almost metallic, blue. It's got a ton of shimmer in it which makes it a more of a silvery looking blue. It's unlike anything else that I have in my collection. I love Revlon's line of nail polishes. And this one is one of my favorite blues! I highly recommend it!

9. Revlon Whimsical- $5

Here's another awesome Revlon nail polish. Whimsical is a sheer baby blue base with medium sized hexagonal glitter in pink and blue. I think the name of this polish is perfect for this polish. The glitter is very sparse throughout the polish making it look very unique. This polish really needs to be used on top of another polish, in my opinion. It's not really opaque enough to be worn on it's own,. But over another baby blue polish, or even white, It's gorgeous! 

10. Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear nail polish in Pacific Blue $2

This might just be my all time favorite blue nail polish. This is a cult avorite in the beauty community online. Pacific blue is a gorgeous cornflower bluedifferent from all the other blues in my collection. It's one of those polishes that doesn't look all that special but is beautiful on the nail. It's opaque in two coats and has amazing lasting power. But, the color is just so pretty and unique, this is a must have polish. If you have just one blue in your nail polish collection, in my opinion, this should be it! It's super inexpensive. I get mine at walmart for two dollars or less! Run, don't walk, and get this for your collection. you won't regret it! 

There ya go! There's just a quick guide to blues! I have a lot of other amazing blues in my collection as well. This isn't even close to all of them. Blue might just be my favorite nail polish color. But I think this covers a lot of different styles and shades of blue, and if you don't see something you like in this lot of blue, than perhaps blue just isn't for you. Pretty in Purple: A guide to purple Nail Polish

I recently had a friend ask my advice on finding the perfect purple nail polish. When looking through my nail polish collection (which, if you are interested in seeing my entire nail polish collection, I have a video on it here) I found that I have quite a variety of purple polishes in my collection. Considering purple is my favorite color, I honestly expected to have more! These aren't all my purple polishes, but I thought I would give you all an overview on them. If you're looking for the perfect, inexpensive purple polish, hopefully this will be helpful to you!

1. New York Color In a New York Color Minute nail polish in "Lincoln Square Lavendar"- $2

The top right hand polish is one of my all time favorite Spring polishes. It's a gorgeous pinky-purple shade from NYC called "Lincoln Square Lavendar". It is one of NYC's quick dry formula polishes, and I find that this one dries in under two minutes. Not the fastest of fast dry polish, but still pretty quick! The color is a really gorgeous shade, and I find that while the formula of this polish is a bit thicker than some of the others I will share with you today, that helps with application. This one is pretty much opaque in one coat!

2. Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Nail Polish in the color "No Hard Feelings"- $2

This next polish is more of a true lilac color. I own a lot of Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear polishes, but this is the only straight up "hard as nails" polish that I own, and I like it a lot. The formula is really nice, not too thick of thin. Not streaky. This one takes about two coats to be completely even and opaque. As a general rule, I like all of Sally Hansen nail polishes and this one is no exception.

3. Revlon Nail Polish in the color"Girly"- $5

This polish isn't going to be for everyone, but if you love chunky glitter on your nails as much as I do you will adore Revlon's Girly. It's a sheer pinky-purple base with lots of large hexagonal shaped glitters in various shades of pink and purple. It is absolutely beautiful. I don't recommend wearing this polish on it's own. The base is way too sheer, and I am not sure you would ever be able to get it opaque. But layered on top of another purple polish (I recommend Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Lacey Lilac, which you will hear more about later in this post) It is absolutely beautiful. The formula on this is really good. Glitters can be kind of a pain to work with sometimes, and this one id pretty easy to apply. I think that this is the epitome of girly nail polish, so it's very aptly named in my opinion, and Revlon nail polishes can be found for around 5 dollars at most drugstores.

4. Revlon Top Speed in "Decadence" - $5

This is an absolutely beautiful polish from Revlon's top speed line of polishes. It's a gorgeous deep royal purple with a deep blue shift. From some angles it looks like a nice shiny deep purple, and from others it's a gorgeous blue. I love duochrome polishes, I feel like they are always so unique, and this one is no exception. It applies super easy, dries super fast and costs around 5 dollars. Kind of perfect, if you ask me!

5. Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear nail polish in "Lacey Lilac"- $2

I really love the Xtreme Wear line of nail polishes from Sally Hansen. Especially the cream formula polishes, and this might just be my favorite. It's a super pale beautiful lilac purple. It's such a delicate color, but not at all sheer. It's nice and opaque in one coat, but I use two, just cause that's what I am used to doing. The formula on this, and really all of the Xtreme Wear cream formula polishes is amazing. It just glides effortlessly onto the nail. And the brush isn't too fat or too thin. At just two dollars, these are some of the best polishes in the drugstore! As I mentioned, in my opinion, this is the perfect polish color to be layered underneath Revlon's Girly. But it's also perfection all on it's own!

6. Sinful Colors nail polish in "Dream On"- $2

If you are looking for a purple polish that is bold and makes a statement, look no furthur. Sinful Colors "Dream on" is a gorgeous neon red based purple. It's so beautiful! It's neon, but because it's a deeper color it's not like flourescent in your face neon like some neon pinks or yellows can be. The formula on this polish is pretty good. As a general rule I find Sinful colors polishes to be a bit on the thin side, but this one layers nicely, and in opaque in 3 coats. As with most neons, this does dry matte, but if you aren't into that look, you can always add a top coat for a beautiful shine! I think this color will be perfect in the summertime, especially on the toes. Sinful Colors is a great drugstore brand because their polishes are just 2 dollars and their color selection is amazing!

7. Wet n Wild Megalast Nail Polish in "Through the Grapevine"- $2

Another one of my favorite nail polish lines from the drugstore. The Wet n Wild Megalast Polishes are amazing! Every single one that I have tried has been awesome. The formula is fantastic. I can usually get away with just one coat of polish! This color, through the grapevine, is a gorgeous red based purple. It's a bit darker and more understated than Sinful Colors "Dream On" but it's in the same color family. I just adore this nail polish. It's actually what is on my nails right now. I feel like this is one of those colors that you can wear all year round. It's bright enough for spring and summer, but not so bright that it can't be worn in the fall and winter as well. I highly recommend this one. It's such a unique, beautiful polish with an amazing formula. And the brush on these wet n wild megalast polishes is probably my fave brush ever! It's flat and wider than most nail polishes brushes I have seen from other brands, making it super duper easy to apply the polish with just a swipe or two on each nail!

8. Wet n Wild Megalast Nail Polish in "On a Trip"- $2

I have already raved about the formula of these polishes, and this one is equally amazing. Super easy to apply, and the color on this one is a more blue-based purple. It's one of my favorite shades of purple! All the things I said above about "through the grapevine" apply to this one as well. I just can't say enough good things about the megalast line of polishes from wet n wild!

9. Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear in "Purple Potion" -$2

This is one of my the deeper purples in my collection. It's an Xtreme wear polish, which I have already raved about once in this post, so I will spare you the gushing. This color is another puple-blue duochrome polish similar to the Revlon polish above in Decadence, but this one is deeper in color and has a ton of microshimmer. I like this one a lot. It's not my favorite purple, but it looks great in the fall and winter.

10. Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear in "Plum Power"- $2

This purple is different than all the other purples I own. It's more of a magenta based plum purple and it has a ton of microshimmer running through it. It's another one that is perfect for the fall and winter. I really like this one a lot. The formula on this one isn't as great as some of the other Xtreme wear polishes, but it's still pretty easy to work with and is opaque in two coats.

April Polish Picks!

It's time again to share with you the nail polishes I wore for the month! I really enjoy these posts. I am totally obsessed with nail polish, in case you haven't noticed, so I love sharing with you all the polishes I chose to wear each month! So let's just go right ahead and get started.

I started out the month wearing a really cool color combination. A Coral color and a blue color, and I really enjoyed the way this color combo looked. What I did was painted my middle finger and thumb on each hand with the Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear nail polish in the color in Blue me away. It's a bright blue cream finish polish that I just love. And then on my pointer finger, ring finger and pinkie I went with one of my all time favorite nail polishes, Elf's Coral Dream. Then, to sort of tie the whole look together I did a random little dotted pattern on my ring finger over the coral with the bright blue. It was a fun little mani! Coral and bright blue are some of my favorite colors, and I liked the color combination a ton! I wasn't crazy about the random design I did, but I still liked this manicure a lot.

After I was through with the coral and blue look, I went for something quite a bit more understated. I painted all of my nails with another one of my all time favorite nail polishes, Wet n Wild Megalast in the color I need a refresh-mint. It's just a gorgeous, tiffany box blue color. Very light and pretty. I love the megalast polishes a lot, because they are super easy to apply. I love the formula and I especially love the brush. Then, to add a bit more interest, I did a subtle glitter accent nail on my ring finger and thumb. I just applied one thin coat of Revlon's whimsical which is a sheer milky blue base with large, sparse chunks of pink and blue glitter. It was a very pretty combo!

Next, I went with yet another of the Wet n Wild Megalast polishes. This time I chose the super subtle, demure 2% milk. It's a sheer milky cream colored polish. It took about 3 coast to be opaque. I actually wore this polish alone for a day, and just got bored with how plain jane it was (in case you can't tell I like fun accents!) so I went ahead and did some free hand tips using the New York Color nail polish in the color High Line Green. It's one of NYC's quick dry polishes that I love in a bright green color that is perfect for spring. I didn't use any tape or special tools to do the tips so they are a little messily done, but I liked the overall look!

Right around the time I was ready to take that polish off, I received in the mail my very first Julep Maven box. If you aren't familiar with Julep, it's a monthly subscription nail polish service, for 20 dollars a month! I got my introductory box, and was anxious to try out the formula, so I went with one of the polishes from the box, Eileen which is a bright white, cream finish polish. Then, on top, I added a China Glaze polish in Whirled away, which is a clear base with large chunks of black and white hexagonal glitter as well as black bar glitter. I loved the way this looked. So whimsical and funky and fun! And, added bonus, it fit right in with the black and white trend! This was a pain the butt to apply. Whirled away is not my favorite glitter polish ever. You have to place the glitters exactly where you want them, you can't just brush them on. But I find that to be the case with a lot of polishes with large chunks of glitter, so it wasn't too much of a bother. The overall finished look was worth it! It was even worth the pain it was to remove (Thank God for the foil method of polish removal!)

Next, I went for another glitter-centric manicure. Apparently I am a glutton for nail polish removal punishment. But this was another one of those that made the removal process so worth it. I started out with a Sally hansen Xtreme WEar polish in the color Lacey Lilac. It's one of my all time favorite Xtreme WEar polishes at the moment. It's just a nice, pretty lilac color. Then I added the glitter! I went with REvlon's nail polish in the color Girly which is a pinky-puple sheer base with a ton of large pieces of indigo, fuchsia and purple glitter as well as smaller lilac and pink glitters. I loved the way this looked. It was definitely a very girly mani! It reminded me, for some reason, of a gumdrop! Not entirely sure why. But I really lovesd this manicure. I love REvlon's glitter polishes and this one might just be my favorite!

After that, I was ready to take a bit of a break from all the glitter and crazy color combinations. And luckily, right around that time, my Ipsy bag for the month of April was delivered and one of the products inside was a nail polish so I decided to give it a try. It's the Sation nail lacquer in the color Love at First Byte. It's a very sheer formula peachy color. I did three coats of this on my nails and it was still pretty sheer. That's just the nature of the polish. I actually liked it a lot, I thought it was a nice change from some of the crazier things I had been wearing so far this month. I really liked the formula of this polish a lot.

At the same time that I did that sheer, pretty mani, I went ahead and did my pedi for the month. I only paint my toe nails about once or twice a month. This time, I chose a Julep polish that I also received in my introductory box. It's a bright coral shade in the color Sasha. You can't really tell in the photo below, but this color made me look so tan! I could hardly believe it! My feet almost looked dirty at first they looked so tan! So this is a polish I will most definitely be wearing around the pool in the summer time! I liked the formula, okay, it was a bit thick, so not the easiest to work with. As I am using more and more Julep polishes I am finding that no two polishes is exactly alike as far as application goes. But I am having fun trying them out!

A couple days after I did the sation manicure, I received my second Julep box in the mail, which was the sea salt mystery box. One of the polishes inside was so pretty that I immediately took off what I was wearing and applied it. The color is Julep's Maria and it is a gorgeous rose gold metallic polish with a really high shine. I put this on, and I swear it looked like liquid metal. Almost like I had coated my nails in pink tin foil. I LOVED it. This is another one that was a bit thick and harder to work with than I would like, but it was just absolutely stunning. I felt like it went really well with my skin tone and matched everything in my wardrobe. I think this is definitely my favorite of the Julep's I have tried so far.

And the very last manicure that I want to share with you today is another super fun glitter one. I always come back to this type of mani I guess! This time, I chose one of the newest polishes in my collection. It's from Hard Candy and it's the color  Gummy Green. It's a milky mint green base with tons, and I mean tons of silver and black glitter. This seriously was like mint chocolate chip ice cream for the nails. And mint chocolate chip is my favorite. I LOVED this polish so much. Well, the look of it anyway. Not crazy about the application. It was pretty thick, but then again, with the huge amount of glitter in it, I guess it's to be expected.
