Makeup MVPs 2013: Eyes

I have a TON of stuff to talk to you guys about in the eye category! Eye makeup was my first love, which is probably why I have ten times the amount of eyeshadow a normal person has. lol. I had a lot of favorite things this year, so let's just jump right into it, otherwise you'll be here all day!

Starting out with eyeshadow bases. These are so important because they work to keep your eyeshadow in place and make it last all day! I have a whole drawer full of eyeshadow bases! I love them. And these are the best of the best!

Mac Painterly Paint Pot- I absolutely love this! It's expensive, I shelled out 20 bucks for this product! But it's totally worth it! It's a great matte neutral creamy product that I love to apply to my lids as a first step to just about any look. It's creamy enough that it glides on effortlessly, but it doesn't crease or budge! It does a great job of muting out any discoloration or veins on my lids and gets them ready for eyeshadow!

Maybelline Color Tattoo- I love all of the maybelline color tattoos that I own! They are seriously pigmented cream eyeshadows that can be worn on their own, or layered underneath powder shadow to really make them pop! I use them both ways. They are so versatile! My all time favorite is barely branded. It's a great neutral shade with a bit of a metallic finish so it's great to add a bit of shine to any eye look. I highly recommend it, and any of the other shades. They're a steal at a great drugstore price!

Elf eyelid primer- My first love when it comes to eyeshadow primer and I still love and use it constantly. This little baby is just a buck on eyelipsface.com and it's a great, simple primer that goes on completely sheer. It doesn't add anything to the look or take anything away. It simply stays put and keeps your eyeshadow from creasing or fading throughout the day. I think this is a staple in any woman's makeup collection!

Moving on now to my favorite part. The eyeshadow! I could talk until I am blue in the face about eyeshadows. I just love them. But when it comes down to it there are two brands of eyeshadow that I find myself coming back to again and again.

Wet n Wild- I completely adore wet n wild's eye shadows! This isn't the wet n wild I remember from when I Was a kid, that's for sure. These eyeshadows are super soft and blend so easily. All of the shades I have tried are super pigmented and rarely powdery! My all time favorite is the wet n wild comfort zone palette. It comes with 8 shades. On one side is all of the neutrals that I love, and on the other side is smokier green shades perfect for a green smokey eye! You can't go wrong with this palette. Or really, any of wet n wild's palettes. I love the color icon trios too, especially walking on eggshells and sweet as candy! I can't say enough good things about these shadows!

Urban Decay- And on the other end of the price spectrum I love Urban Decay. This wouldn't be a favorites post if I didn't proclaim my undying love to the Naked palettes. I have the original, Naked 2 and naked basics and they are easily my most used most loved palettes. I desperately want the Naked 3 palette to enter my life soon! I love the naked palettes because they are just so easy. They're full of great neutral shades that you can mix and match and wear everyday! They're all incredibly pigmented, super blend-able and last all day. If you can only afford one high end makeup product, I highly suggest you check out the naked palettes and pick the one that works best for you! They're amazing!

My favorite eyeshadow brush of all time is the Elf essential eyeshadow brush. It's just a flat shader brush that is super affordable at just 1 dollar! I have at least 6 of these brushes. They are soft but still firm and make for the perfect brush for applying eyeshadow to your lid, or as a highlight shade. I go back and forth between blending brushes and such, but the brush I use everyday without fail is this one, and I highly recommend it!

I really got into eyeliner this year. I've always worn it kind of subtly along the upper lash line. Just a thin line straight across and nothing fancy. This year I got way more into bolder liner and here are the products that helped me along the way!

Elf waterproof eyeliner pen- I love this product. It comes in a nice variety of colors. It's super easy to apply. It gives you the look of liquid liner without the difficulties in application. I love liquid liner but I've never really been able to master it's application. This pen makes it super easy. I especially love the black one. It's super black and pigmented and doesn't smear or fade throughout the day. And these are super affordable at just 2 dollars a pop!

Urban Decay 24/7 liners- I just love the urban decay liners! They are a tad expensive, but I have always managed to find mine on sale or in travel sizes to make them less so. These are the best pencil liners on the market in my opinion. They glide on super easily but once they set they aren't going anywhere! I especially love the one in perversion because it's super duper black. I use it constantly for lining my water line and tight lining. It's a great asset to me!

Elf Cream eyeliner- Another thing I have really gotten into more this year is cream or gel liner. I love the elf one because it's super affordable, it's easy to apply and the black one is super black. I like to use an angled liner brush to apply this, and it's great for winged eyeliner, or just really darkening up the upper lash line! It's creamy and doesn't dry out quickly, which makes this an amazing value at just 3 dollars!

Rimmel Scandal Eyes Liners- I really got into the rimmel pencil liners this year, and the main one is the one in nude. It's a fantastic product for applying to your water line to really wake up the eyes and make them appear more often. So often black liner in the water line closes off the eye. Using a nude color really makes you look brighter and more awake, and the nude from Rimmel is very creamy, and very affordable!

As far as mascara goes, I had quite an affair on my beloved Covergirl lashblast volume this year. I adore that mascara, don't get me wrong, but I branched out a bit this year and found some new loves!

MaybelineGreat Lash Lots of Lashes- This is not the great lash mascara your mother used. This mascara is amazing. I think the part I love the most about this is the brush. It's super tapered making the very tip of the brush teeny tiny which makes it super easy to get to those inner lashes that are so often missed by bigger brushes. This gives me a ton of length as well, which I love. The black is super black and pigmented and it doesn't flake or fade throughout the day. Plus, this mascara ings up for under 5 bucks, which makes it a winner in my book!

Rimmel London Retro Glam Mascara- I didn't discover this mascara until the tail end of the year, but I couldn't not include it because it's my new all time favorite mascara. This mascara gives me volume like whoa! I can't even begin to describe how amazing my lashes look with this mascara on. It's a different look than a lot of other mascaras that I own. It gives me a ton of volume and some length too and I just feel so glamorous when I wear it! I didn't like some of the other rimmel mascaras I tried in 2013, but this one is phenomenal!

Elf eyebrow kit in medium- Another thing I got into this year was filling in my eyebrows! I wish I ad done it sooner! This is such an easy thing to skip, but it makes such a huge difference in the overall look of your makeup! I love the elf eyebrow kit because it comes with a wax and a powder and it makes filling in your brows easy as pie! It's also affordable, which is a huge plus!

Elf wet gloss clear lash and brow mascara- once I have filled in my brows, I always set them with a brow gel and my favorite is the elf one because it does the job and it costs just a buck! This one does get a bit crunchy if you apply too much, but for the price, I don't mind that at all!

Chella Ivory Lace Highlighter- I would be remiss if I didn't mention this product to round out my favorite eye products. I use this practically everyday right up under my brow for an absolutely beautiful highlight. I often put powder shadow on top, but this is always the first step. It's just a gorgeous ivory color that brightens that area so nicely. I put it in my inner corner as well sometimes to brighten that area up. I received this in an ipsy bag at one point during the year and I am so glad that I did because it's beautiful!

So that rounds out my favorite eye products from 2013. I know it was a lot but what can I say, I just love eye makeup! Be sure to check back soon for my favorite lip products from 2013!

The Magic of Makeup: Before and After face of the day!

Today, after I took my shower I took a photo of myself before I did my hair and makeup, and then immediately after I finished getting ready for the day I took another photograph. I couldn't believe the difference in my appearance! I never realized how much makeup changes ones appearance until I looked at this before and after. Take a look...

I think that I look about 10 years younger in the "after" photo. My skin looks brighter, I look more awake and aware. Makeup really can do magical things, eh?

What am I wearing, you ask?

Makeup for a day at the pool!

Hi guys! Today I thought I would share with you the type of makeup that I do when I am headed for a day at the pool. Now, obviously it's not at all a heavy look. No one wears a full face of makeup when going swimming., But, since I don't generally put my head under water, I do wear a bit! Here's what I'm wearing!

Face Products:
Equate Naturally Beaming daily moisturizer
Coola Mineral Sunscreen Rose Essence tinted moisturizer
Covergirl Fresh Complexion pocket powder foundation in medium light

Eye Products:
Mac paint pot in painterly
Maybelline the rocket waterproof mascara

Lip products:
Maybelline baby lips tinted lip balm in Melon Mania

The Coola tinted moisturizer is a great source of protection from the sun for my skin. I got it in my latest ipsy bag and I LOVE it! It gives a tiny bit of coverage and adds spf 20! I used my regular daily mosturizer in conjunction with it to make sure my skin is nice and hydrated before going out in the hot sun! I used just a light dusting of powder just to set it and add a bit more coverage.

The paint pot in painterly just mutes out the veins in my eyes without adding any dramatic color or shadow. Maybelline's the rocket mascara is a fantastic waterproof mascara! I wear this to the pool, and even if the kiddos splash me in the face with water, it doesn't budge.

The baby lips lip balm is a gorgeous subtle melon color that provides tons of moisture for my lips. I love it!

So there ya have it. My typical pool day makeup. This would be great for the beach or for a light no makeup makeup look for a lunch time date or picnic as well. Hopefully you enjoyed this and got some helpful tips! Thanks for reading!

Summertime Face of the day!

Today I thought I would share with you a look I put together a couple days ago. It's a great summer appropriate look. It's light weight coverage that you don't have to worry too much about sweating off throughout the day. The eyes are a nice dark neutral look. With just a bit of shine on the lips.

Urban Decay eyeshadow in Virgin
Mica Beauty Gel eyeliner in black
Elf Studio 3-in-1 mascara

Lip Products:
EOS lip balm in lemon drop
Maybelline Color Whisper in Lust For Blush
Juice Beauty Lip Gloss in Pink

I started out by applying the Olay BB Cream. I really love it! I received in complimentary from influenster in my sun kissed vox box and it's a great lightweight product with a decent amount of coverage. I topped it with a translucent powder. I used the Elf baked bronzer to really warm up my face, and the blush I chose is a nice peachy pink with golden shimmer. I layered the powder blush on top of the cream blush for the ultimate in staying power.

For the eyes, I used Mac Painterly as a base to neutralize and veins of discoloration. I applied the jumbo eyeshadow stick from Elf all over my lid and then packed Buck on top of that. I used naked to blend buck out. and then applied virgin to my browbone as a highlight. Then I filled in my brows using the elf eyebrow kit in medium. Then I lined my eyes with the gel eyeliner as well as adding it to my water line. Then I curled my lashes and applied a couple coats of mascara.

For my lips I just applied a bit of lip balm and then the maybelline color whisper in lust for blush for a nice neutral color. I added just a bit of the juice beauty gloss in pink for a nice glossy look.

November Favorites

This month I decided to go aheaxd and film a video on my monthly favorites! But, I know not everyone enjoys watching videos so I figured I would write up a quick blog post to accompany the video. I didn't take photos of the products, which I realize now I should have done. But I did show each item in the video, so hopefully that's ok! So before I get started, here's the video!!

My first favorite is the Revlon Colorstay whipped creme foundation in 220 Nude. I really enjoy this foundation. It glides on smoothly, and has a beautiful finish. it is medium to full coverage, and very pretty on the skin. I have never used the original Revlon colorstay so I can't say how it compares to that one, but I really love this version and highly recommend it!

Next up are the sephora brand prisma chrome eyeshadows in moon bean and flash dance. I really like these eyeshadows! They come in a cute little square compact packaging, and the product itself is a really cool raised design. Moon beam is a super pretty light shade that I find is perfect for a brow bone highlight, or all over the lid. Flash dance is a beautiful deep orange color that I normally wouldn't have purchased but that I am loving as an outer corner color. These eyeshadows are incredibly pigmented and last all day with the proper eyeshadow base!

Next is the Elf little black beauty book, and I have the everyday festive eye edition. It's a beautiful compact little palette that fits right in my bag easily. It's about the size of my hand. It comes with a large variety of neutral as well as colorful eyeshadows. It's got a ton of variety, and most of the shades have good pigmentation. It's a very versatile little palette, and it only costs 5 dollars! This would make a great holiday gift.
http://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=7722023458249977542#editor/target=post;postID=1326943036952390261N
Next is the L'oreal Voluminous million lashes mascara. I believe the shade I have is carbon black, but I'm not one hundred percent sure because I don't see the color name anywhere on the actual tube. Regardless, this mascara is amazing. It separates and lengthens my lashes without clumping. It does not flake, or transfer and it lasts all day. I really enjoy this mascara, and I highly recommend it!

I have a couple of lip products to share with you today as well. First is the Elf jumbo lip gloss stick in the color in the nude. It's a beautiful creamy nude color. It's perfect for my skin tone in my opinion. And even though it's technically a gloss, I don't find this one to be super glossy, so I like to wear it with a gloss on top, and the one that I especially like with this particular shade is the urban decay lip junkie lip gloss in Midnight cowboy. This is a beautiful nude gloss with lots of shimmer in it. It's beautiful, and it has a minty smell and a cooling sensation on the lips. LOVE! Another of my favorite lip products for the month of november is the Elf mineral lipstick in nicely nude. I really like all of the mineral lipsticks from this brand that I have tried, but nicely nude is my favorite of them all so far. Even though it's called nicely nude, it's not a nude color in my opinion. It's more of a true pink. It looks great on my skin tone, lasts for quite a while and have a beatiful sheen to it! you should check it out!

Next up is a couple of blushes. I have the Elf baked blushes in peachy cheeky and passion pink. Like their names suggest passion pink is a pink shade and peachy cheeky is a peachy-pink blush. Both are beautiful on the skin and they last quite a while. I wouldn't say all day, but I have gotten about 8 hours of wear out of each of them. And at 3 dollars each they are a steal!

The l'oreal dream lumi concealer/corrector in fair. I use this concealer to brighten my under eye area, and it's beautiful. It makes me instantly look more alive and awake, and it lasts and does not crease or move. I like it a lot!

Next up I have just a couple of fragrances. First is the bodycology body mist in peppermint twist. This little body mist I picked up in the stocking stuffer section of walmart and it just screams holiday to me. It's a beautiful peppermint scent. The scent doesn't last long, but since it's a cute little purse size, I can take it with me and re-apply whenever I want. The other schent I have been loving this month is the taylor swift wonderstruck perfume. I am horrible at describing scents, but it is described on the website as an awe-inspiring blend, filled with freesia, raspberry, vanilla, honeysuckle, and sandalwood. It smells so good. It's a great everyday fragrance in my opinion And the bottle is super cute!

My last favorite is a high-end product that I splurged on earlier in the month and it's the Mac paint pot in painterly. It's a skin toned cream product that I like to use as an eyeshadow base. It's great because it disguises the veins in my eyelids and makes for a great neutral base for any eyeshadow look. If I knew of a good drugstore dupe for this product I would have purchased it, but I have been looking for a product like this for ages, and I have simply not found a less expensive alternative. So I broke down and paid the 18 dollars to have this in my makeup collection, and while I cringe that I paid that much, I really am glad that I purchased this product. I really love it, and I find myself reaching for it everyday!

So that's it for my favorites this month. There were quite a few of them! I hope you enjoyed this blog post! Be sure to check out the video I posted as well, and if you like watching beauty related videos, go ahead and subscribe to my youtube channel, because there are lots more videos where this one came form! Thanks guys! I hope you all have an amazing December!
