It's been a long time since I did a nail polish collection post, and I have accumulated a TON of nail polish since then so I figured it was time to do an updated one! I filmed it on my phone, so it's a little shaky and the lighting isn't the greatest. I swear, one of these days I will get my act together and figure out a way to film higher quality videos, but for now please bare with me!
A lifestyle blog with a little bit of everything! Makeup and beauty, planning, recipes and so much more!

Makeup collection and storage
So I made a video going over my makeup collection. Its shaky and I ramble incessantly and it cuts off at the end. So I decided not to upload it instead just took a bunch of pictures. I might get the chance to film the collection video again sometime in the future but for now I'll just share with you the photos.Once again, these photos were taken with my phone so they aren't the greatest quality, but you can get the the basic idea!
First on top of my vanity is a little basket where I keep all of my hair products, my deodorant and other everyday products that I reach for a lot. Next to the basket I keep two cups which contain my face brushes and eye brushes.
All of those things are on the left side of my vanity. On the right side I just have a box of tissues, a little lettter organizer that I picked up at Walmart that contains a few of my eyeshadow palettes. I also have a little plastic martini glass which is really cute and that holds all of my EOS lip balms. I also have a little glass jar that contains a bunch of my jewelry.
All right now we can move on to my actual makeup collection. I use to store it all in little plastic Sterilite drawers but it wasn't the most sturdy or attractive way to store makeup. So I was on the mission to find something better. what I finally came up with was a Helmer unit from Ikea. It's a short metal cabinet with 6 drawers in it and it's perfect for storing my makeup. I picked up 2 of them as well as the plastic drawer organizers for around 100 dollars total so it was really great deal.
The first drawer contains all of my face products. In the very top little space I keep all of my powders. I don't have many of those. In the next section on the left I keep all of my foundations. I have foundations from ELF, rimmel and Revlon as well as NYC. I also have a tinted moisturizer from elf. Next to that and another little section I keep all of my face primers and moisturizers as well as my ELF mist and spray. In front of those sections on the left I keep all of my concealers. I have concealers from ELF, hard candy, urban decay as well as L'Oreal. Next to those I just have a couple of compact mirrors and a zapper from ELF.
My next drawer contains all of my cheek products. So the very back segment is open and waiting for me to purchase more products. Haha not that I need anymore but it's nice to know that I have a little extra room if I did decide I want to buy more. The left handed segment is full of all of my powder blushes. I've got mostly elf brushes but I also have blushes from LA Colors and hard candy. in the segment next to that I have all my bronzers. Again mostly from ELF but I also have 1 from NYC. The segment in front of that on the left contains all of my cream blushes. Again these are mostly ELF. I have a studio cream blush as well as there HD blushes from ELF. I also have a blush stick from wet n wild. The last little segment of this drawer has my high lighting products so I have hey cream highlighter from urban decay. I have a bunch of the all over color sticks from elf. I also have an ELF studio blush in gotta glow which I use for highlighting.

The next drawer contains all of my lip products. It's one of my favorite drawers! I just love the way it looks. haha. Anyway, I have this drawer organizer turned in a different direction than the other ones, because it works better for me this way. So in the top section of this drawer, on the left, I have my lip balms. Of course, not all my lip balms. You already saw my EOS lip balms on top of the vanity. On the top right I have my ELF lip stains. In front of those, on the left I have all of my squeeze tube type lip glosses. I have lip glosses from Elf, Forever 21 and Urban Decay. In the right hand section I have other types of lip gloss like those in stick form, and those in tube with a doe foot applicator. Most of the glosses in this section come from ELF, but I have some other brands mixed in there as well. The very bottom section houses all of my lip sticks and maybelline baby lips lip balms. I like that these drawers are deep enough that I can stall of my lipsticks up. It makes finding the lipstick that I want much easier. Plus it looks so nice that way! I store most of my lipsticks upside down so I can easily read the labels. I have lipsticks from Revlon, Urban Decay, Maybelline, NYC as well as ELF lipsticks from the mineral line, and the essential line.
The next drawer contains all of my eyeshadow bases, mascaras and eyeliners. This is another one of my favorite drawers! The very back section houses all of my eyeliners. I have many pencil liners as well as liquid liners and gel eyeliners. of my eyeliners come from ELF or urban Decay but I also have some from NYC, LA colors and Bonnebell. The next section, on the left contains all of my eyelid primers. So I have primers from Elf, Urban Decay and one from too faced. This section also contains my eyeshadow pencils from Urban Decay and my jumbo eyeshadow sticks from Elf. The section on the right all of my mascaras. I have mascaras from Maybelline, Cover Girl, smashbox, L'Oreal, ELF and NYC. I also have my Elf eyebrow kit in this section as well as one of my lash curlers and my tweezers. The next section up, on the left holds all of my cream eye shadows. I believe every single one of them is from ELF. And then the right hand section holds all of my maybelline color tattoos and my one Mac paint pot in painterly.
The next drawer holds smaller eyeshadow palettes. Single eyeshadow, eyeshadow duos, trios and some quads. The back section on the left just holds my eyeliner sharpeners. Not really sure why they are in this drawer and not my drawer. Must have just been the drawer I had space in. The section on the right has my false lashes, lash glue and the like. The section on the left, in front of those has some random eyeshadow singles, duos and quads. I have a bunch from Elf, but I also have some from wet n wild, urban decay and NYC. Next to that is all of my Elf brightening eye color quads, as well as some duos from elf, and the Elf studio single shadows that I own. In the front section I just have a couple of Urban Decay Palettes, and a couple sephora eyeshadow singles.
The last drawer in helmer unit houses the rest of my palettes. I have a couple of the Elf holiday "books". I have the Elf villainous villainous villains palettes, my BH cosmetics 120 colors palette and some other palettes in there.
So that pretty much wraps up my makeup collection. I do have another helmer unit that contains things like makeup remiover, hair tools and my nail polish but I will go over that helmer in a separate post. Probably, when I do that, I will also post an in-depth nail polish collection as well.

Blush 101 and my blush collection
I know a lot of women that avoid wearing blush at all costs. Whether it's because they fear it will not look natural, or they are just unsure how to apply it. It's a shame because the perfect blush can really bring out the structure of your face and finish off a look, especially when paired with a bronzer and/or highlight (which I will cover in a separate post)
As I said, the right blush can really bring a look together. It's one of my favorite types of makeup to purchase and use. So which blush will work best for you? Read more to find out!
Before I get started I should tell you that there are no hard and fast makeup rules. While there are certain shades or types of blush I may suggest you steer clear of, nothing says you can't rock them anyway. Wear whatever you feel most comfortable in. If you want to rock a bright pink blush with silver shimmer in in the daytime at the beach, then by all means, do so. I am simply stating some tips and opinions that are my own.
Choosing a blush is a two-fold process. First you need to decide on the type of blush, and then you need to decide on the color. Here's a quick guide on choosing the right formula...
If you have dry skin: Cream blushes are more hydrating and tend to be very flattering on dry skin.
Oily/combination skin: Powder blushes work best as they do not add to the oiliness of your skin, nor do they slide off of oily skin.
Normal Skin: you can wear any type of blush!
As far as finishes go, matte blushes work well on all skin types and ages. Shimmer can work as well, but you have to be careful. Super shimmery blush can make pores look larger than they are. Also, shimmer/glitter generally should be avoided in excess during the day time, in my opinion. At least on the face.
As far as color for a natural look, the general rule is to go for a color that is similar to your face after a work out or your pinched cheeks. That is the shade that will look most natural on you. Generally the darker your skin color, the brighter the blush you choose. But, really as long as you are confident you can rock just about any blush out there! Use your best instincts, and try lots of things. You may be surprised at what looks best on you. You may think that a gold-toned blush wouldn't work for you but find that when used with a light hand, it's a lovely shade for your skin tone. Take risks! Get samples of blushes to try if you are concerned about spending money on a blush that will not flatter you. But most of all, just have fun!
Now I will share with you the blushes in my makeup collection. As I said above, the most natural blush color is the shade that matches your pinched cheeks. But as you can see I have many different shades and finishes. I don't stick to that rule.
1. Elf contouring blush and Bronzing Powder. The blush in this duo is called blushed. It's a lovely peachy pink blush with gold shimmer. As you can see I have hit pan on this blush. I use it all the time.
2. Aziza II- my mom actually gave me this blush duo. I have no idea where she got it. It's a duo of pink blushes. One being a darker pink, and one being a lighter pink.
3. L.A. Colors blush in Peach Rose- This is another peachy pink blush with gold shimmer, but it's a couple of shades darker than the Elf blushed. This is another that I think looks really natural and I use often.
4. L.A. Colors blush in Toast- This is a deep brown toned pink and is completely matte. It looks beautiful on, especially in the summer time when I have a bit more color.
5. Elf peachy keen blush- this blush is a straight up peach color with a nice sheen. It's another really natural barely there blush.
6. Elf pink passion blush- this blush is bright pink. Very bright. It can be intimidating to use. But when used with a light hand it gives the prettiest pink flush to the cheeks.
7. Elf cream blush in flirt- this is a lovely cream blush that has a sort of whipped spongey texture. It blends beautifully on the skin and is a nice bright pink.
8. Hard Candy fox in a box blush in Hot flash- This boxed blush has four different colors that you can use alone or swirl together. The shades inside are a very light pink, a neutral, a mid-toned pink and a bright fuchsia. This blush is beautiful but must be used with a light hand on my fair skin otherwise I look a little like a clown.
9. Wet 'n Wild twist up blush stick in 721- this is a stick blush that is a little hard to blend but lovely after you work with it. It is sort of a blue based pink color.
10. Elf all over color stick in Persimmon- I love these elf all over color sticks. They are so creamy, so pretty and so cheap. Persimmon has sort of a iridescent type sheen to it. I know that's not accurate but I can't think how else to describe it. It's a really pretty baby pink color that is pretty as a blush or a highlight shade.
11. Elf all over color stick in pink lemonade- this one is a really dark mauve-y pink that when blended out gives a beautiful flush of color.
12. Elf all over color stick in lilac petal- This one is very similar in color to persimmon only it has a bit or a purple cast to it. a very subtle purple cast. I only see purple when comparing it to persimmon.
13. Elf all over color stick in Golden peach- this one is just what the name implies a golden peach color.
14. Blush from the Elf Flawless face collection- this one a medium toned pink with a bit of shimmer.
15. deep wine colored blush from the elf beauty on the go palette in night on the town- this is the darkest blush I own. It's a beautiful deep wine color and i love it blended away to almost nothing.
16. Baby pink colored blush from the Elf beauty on the go palette in day on the beach- this is a super subtle baby pink matte blush
17. Gold colored blush from the elf beauty on the go palette in Tuscany retreat- this is a gold blush that leans more toward a highlight on my skin. It's very pretty and works well on tanned skin.
Well, that's all for my blush collection. I hope you found this post helpful. Be sure to leave any questions or comments below. Thanks for reading!

Make up collection: Brushes and tools
This is the last installment of my make up collection. This segment might not be as fun as the others, but I think that brushes and tools are the most important part! You can make really inexpensive make up look like a million bucks with the right tools. It's much easier to do a good look with bad make up and good brushes than It is to do a good look with quality make up and poor brushes. Anyway I am not going to go in to detail here. I will just share pictures. If you have any questions about anything just leave me a comment below.

Makeup collection: Face products
Sorry it's taken me so long to get this next installment of my makeup collection up. The holidays have kept me super busy. But now Christmas is behind us (hope you all had a great one!) and I can move on with the next segment of my make up collection- face products. I don't have a ton of face products. That is one area of my make up collection that I need to expand, but nonetheless, I will show you what I do have. Remember, if you want more information on any of the products, or a proper review, just let me know!

L to R
NYC Liquid Concealer in Light- this is a pretty decent concealer for the price. I think I paid around 3 dollars for this. It's creamy and blends easily making it a great under eye concealer. It's not the best in the world for blemishes, but thankfully I am not prone to break outs, and don't often need a concealer for that.
NYC Skin Matching Foundation in Light- this is actually a really great foundation, if you know how to use it. the trick to this is not to over blend, because then it tends to start to look flaky. But if you buff it into your skin it is a really nice foundation. It's light to medium coverage, and the shade is perfect for me. It's not my holy grail foundation (I am still on the look out for that) but it works for me.
Jane. Be Pure Mineral Sheer Poudre- It's hard to see this one in the photo. It's the one that all you can see is the silver cap. I am not a fan of this powder. It's a loose powder, and I am generally not a huge fan of loose powders to begin with, but this one is especially light, and gets absolutely everywhere when I apply it. The actual product feels nice on the skin and is good for setting my foundation, but it's such a mess to use that I don't often use it.
NYC Cover stick in Light- This is what I use to cover my blemishes when they pop up. It's easy to use and works fairly well, though it can be difficult to blend. I like it well enough, and I think I only paid a dollar or two for it.
Cover Girl fresh complexion pocket powder foundation in medium light- I have this forever, and I only really started using it this year. It's way too dark for me in the winter, but the shade is nice in the summer. I tend to use it over top of a tinted moisturized for just a tad more coverage. It's nice.
Elf Contouring Blush and bronzer- this is currently one of the only blushes I own, and it is the only bronzer I own. I just haven't felt the need to purchase many more, because this one is fantastic. The bronzer is great for all over bronzing. It's not super dark and it's got some nice shimmer in it. It's not the best for contouring.
I would prefer a matte bronzer for that, but I haven't found one yet that I like for that at a decent price. (if you have any suggestions let me know!) The blush in this duo is a gorgeous peachy pink, and I use it almost every single day.
Elf Natural Radiance Blusher in flushed- I love this blush. I just picked it up recently. It's a gorgeous natural pink tone that gives me cheeks the perfect flush of color. It's not super dry or chalky, and applies smooth. And the best part? It only costs a dollar! The packaging isn't the best, but I am willing to overlook that because the product is so great for the price. I think I need to go back to Target and pick up some more of these.
Wet 'n Wild Twist Up Blush Stick in 721- I have had this for more years than I care to admit. I doubt if they even make these anymore. It's not a great blush. It's sort of dry and hard to blend, though that could be because I have had it for so long. I ought to just throw it away, but I like the color a lot, so I continue to use it occasionally. lol.
That's it. As you can see, I don't have a lot of face products. I tend to spend my money on more fun things like eye shadow and lip gloss. haha. I do need to invest in a matte bronzer, a few other shades of blush and a really good foundation. And I will. Eventually.

Make up collection: Lip products
OK! Now moving on to the Lip products

Starting at the top of the photo with my balms. I have:
Carmex pretty self explanatory. great for super chapped lips and cold sores.
EOS Lip Balm in Summer Fruit I love these balms. they are super smooth, not waxy, and the packaging is so darn cute. Summer Fruit smells great. Tropical and yummy.
EOS Lip Balm in Lemon Drop Lemon drop smells like lemons (of course) and has SPF 15 in it, which is great, especially in the summer!
Maybelline BaBy Lips in Cherry me I have done a review on this but I love this product. It's a great balm with just a tint of red color. It's very moisturizing and a lot more fun than you average, clear lip balm. and it smells great too!
now on top lip sticks and glosses. (from left to right)
NYC lipstick in Sheer Red I think this is a very wearable red, and wuold be great on any and all skin tones!
NYC lipstick in Ruby this one is actually more of a fucshia pink color. Very bright, but wearable if you like loud colors, or if you mute it with the right shade of gloss!
Elf lipstick in Voodoo The one dollar elf lipsticks are very soft. some complain they are too soft, as they can break if you aren't careful. I've personally never had that happen. I love these lipsticks. The color voo doo is a deep berry color which I love in the fall and winter months.
Elf Lipstick in Classy This is a gorgeous light pink color that I think is wonderful for an everyday lipstick! I just got this one, and i've worn it everyday since I purchased it!
Orange Lipstick This is a no name lipstick that I got in a big kit a couple of years ago for Christmas. It's an understated orange color. I don't wear it often, but I keep it around because it is a nice shade to wear with a tan in the summer, as long as it's used with a light hang and the right gloss.
burgundy Lip stick Another no name from the same kit. This one is a very deep burgundy red, and I have only worn it once or twice. I'll admit the vampy color is a little intimidating, but I can't bring myself to get rid of it for some reason. lol
Maybelline Color Sensational Lip stick in Totally Toffee This is one of my all time favorite lipsticks. It's a great pink toned nude and it's perfect for everyday. It goes with everything, and I will definitely repurchase this one, even if it is slightly higher in price than my normal lipstick purchases. I think this one cost me around 6 dollars!
Rimmel London Lipstick in Asia I have had this lipstick forever and I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't carry this color anymore. But it's a great mauve-y pink color. It's one of those my lips but better colors, and I will be sad when I have used it up if I can no longer repurchase it because I love the finish and the formula of this one!
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Blush chrome This is another one I have had forever, and I believe this shade has been discontinued, but I know you can still get it on amazon. It's a gorgeous shade. If applied heavily, the color is a dense, creamy berry shade, but applied lightly, it looks more pink and bright. I think it's very versatile.
NYC Liquid Lip Shine in Dusty Rose This is a nice opaque lip color with great shine! The name says it all.
Neutrogena Moistureshine gloss in Plum This is a nice sheer plum colored gloss, which i love to wear both on it's own and over many different shades of lip stick.
Elf Glossy Gloss in Dragon Fruit I just picked this one up last week for three dollars, and it's so pretty. It's a great shade of pink and the gloss itself applies well and isn't super sticky. Love this gloss!
Elf hypershine Gloss in Berry Cherry This is a nice sheery berry colored lip gloss. I am not crazy about the packaging on this one, but I love the color and it's only a dollar!
Elf plumping lip glaze in oasis I really like this. You start out using the clear gloss and it gives your lips a tingling menthol type sensation (which is supposed to plump them, I guess, but doesn't really work. but it feels good!) and then you apply the colored gloss. The color on this one is a bright pink, and can be either sheered out to look natural or applied heavily for a very bright lip.
Love and Beauty Lip Gloss I picked this up at Forever 21. It doesn't have a color name but it's pink with tons of shimmer. It's a little sticky, but I don't mind because it's such a fun gloss. I love this one!
So there ya have all of my lip products. Stay tuned for the next installment: The face products coming soon!

My Make Up Collection: Eye Products
I had someone tell me they were interested in seeing my make up collection, so I thought that I would share it with you. I don't think I have a ton of products, but i've been accumulating make up for a while now, and it's all products I truly believe in, and they are all very affordable. I think this post could help anyone looking to start getting into make up, or maybe just inspire someone to try out a product they have never tried before. That's why I am doing this. I am breaking these posts up, because otherwise the posts would be VERY LONG. SO I am starting out with all of my eye products!
I am going to start out my eye products. I probably have more eye products than anything. I love shadows and liners, and I think that having a variety of different colors and finishes can really help change up your look, and is great for experimenting!

Starting with the primers and mascaras I have (top left row of the picture)
l'oreal decrease- this is a great drugstore eyelid primer. It's not the best I have ever used, but it does the job and will run you around 6 dollars.
ELF essential eyelid primer- THIS is my favorite eyelid primer of all time. It applies nice and smooth, makes my eyeshadow last all day long, and it only costs a dollar!
Maybelline Great Lash Mascara in brown The first mascara I ever used, and still one of my favorites. I love the formula and the simple brush. This mascara runs somewhere in the 5-6 dollar range.
Elf lengthening and volumizing mascara in black This one costs a dollar and is great for darkening and separating your lashes.
NYC Lengthening Mascara in black I am not sure if they make this mascara anymore. I've had this one for a while (Health Note: You should replace your mascara every 3 months. I don't, but I really really should! Don't be like me!!)
NYC Instant Lash mascara in black One of my fave mascaras. Great for lengthening lashes, and only cost me a dollar!
Moving on to my eye liners (next row, still at the top of the photo)
Elf Wet Gloss Lash and Brow clear mascara. I just picked up this product, and haven't used it long enough to do a review on it, but it only costs a dollar, so what do you have to lose?
NYC liquid Eyeliner in black This is not my favorite liquid eyeliner. It takes a while to dry. But, it's easy to apply and very affordable, so I definitely don't regret purchasing it! I don't use Liquid liner often, so it was a good deal for me.
NYC Brow/Eye Liner Pencil This doesn't have a color name but it's just a charcoal gray color. I never use this one. It doesn't apply well. It's not soft. I probably should just throw it away, but I am a hoarder (lol) and I figure I can alwaus use it in an eyeliner emergency, if I run out!
NYC Eyeliner Duet in mockingbird This is a double ended eye liner pencil. One side is black and one side is white. This one is nice and smooth and glides on fairly easy. The white is great for defining your eyes and making you look awake, while the black is great for defining!
Bonne Bell eye style precise liner in basic black This liner is great. It's the twist up kind so there's no sharpening necessary, and it's a great basic black, soft liner. I wish the color was just a bit darker, but what can ya do?
Elf Studio Cream Eyeliner in black This I just purchased recently, but it very quickly became my favorite eye liner. It is jet black, and very easy to use. I just use an angled brush to apply it and it goes on so smooth and flawlessly. This one costs 3 dollars, and I plan on going back and picking up more colors- maybe even all of them. This stuff if so good!
Ok, now moving on to the eye shadows.
BH Cosmetics 120 colors palette I have talked about this a ton here on my blog, so I won't go into detail, but as you all know, I LOVE this palette.
moving on to the next row in the picture starting at the top and moving down
Cover Girl Eye enhancers eyeshadow quad in Ice Princess This is a great little quad. I love the purples for bringing out the green in my eyes. The shadows are pigmented and soft. With the exception of the darkest shade in the palette which is a tad chalky, but nothing I can't work with!
Wet 'n Wild eyeshdaow palette in Greed Back when I first started using makeup wet n wild was cheap and useless. But they have reformulated and now wet n wild have some of the best eye shadows I have ever used. This palette is nice and has some neutral shades and some darker shades for a great smoky eye. I think it's very versatile.
(next row)
NYC City Duet eyeshadow in Tribecca Toast This is a nice little duo. Again with the purple shades, which are my favorite to wear other than my every day neutral eye. These shadows have some shimmer and are nice and soft. Not bad at all for just under 3 dollars.
Elf brightening eye color in Drama The name says i all. This quad is all about the drama. The colors make for the perfect smoky eye for a night out. And the shadows are great quality. This hot little quad will cost you a dollar. Well worth it!
Elf Brightening eye color in Day 2 Night I am currently obsessed with this quad. The colors are great for a day look, or a night look (hence the quad's name!) The colors are pigmented and have some really gorgeous shimmer. Snag this up for just a dollar!
in the next row I have:
Elf Duo eye shadow creams I just did swatches and a review on these so I won't go into detail, but I have the following duos: Blueberry, Mocha Swirl, Olive, Butter Pecan, Berry mix, and Black Licorice. These are good buys at just a dollar a piece!
So there you have my eye make up. Be sure to watch out for the other segments including my lip products, faec products, brushes and tools!
