[Tag] If I lost all my makeup...

I've never heard of this tag before, but someone in one of the makeup groups I am a part of on facebook posed this question, and I decided to do it here on my blog. The question is...if I lost all of my makeup what are the 10 products that I would repurchase. I am not sure what phenomenon happened that I lost all my makeup, but I have a very clear idea as to what I would repurchase immediately.

Foundation:

My favorite foundation of the moment in the covergirl outlast Stay fabulous 3-in-1 foundation. I wear the shade creamy natural. It's a very nice foundation with medium coverage and I love the finish. I think it does a nice job of covering my imperfections without being too much, or cakey. I love it!

Concealer:

I can't go without a concealer. No way! Ideally, I would have two concealers, one for undereye and one for blemishes. But, since I only have ten products I can purchase for this tag, I need to prioritize and choose a concealer that works for both. I really love the Elf Tone correcting concealer from their essential line. I know it's only a dollar, but it's a great little concealer. It blends easily and covers well. It's a great multi-tasker, and has a pleasant smell. I use the shade fair, which is just a shade lighter than my skin and it really helps brighten my under eye area. Love it!

3. Powder

As someone with dry skin, I generally don't really need to set my foundations, but I definitely need a setting powder for setting my concealer and for touching up throughout the day. My favorite powder is the NYC smoothskin pressed powder in translucent. It's a really nice finely milled powder that doesn't add any color or coverage. It's really smooth and does a fantastic job of setting, without caking up. It's one of those products that I rarely ever hear people talk about and I don't know why, because it's fantastic!

4. Blush:

Blush is one of my all time favorite makeup products. I think it makes such a difference to the face. I would need to choose a nice, neutral blush that I could wear all year 'round. So I would go with one of my favorite blushes. I love love love the blush from the Elf contouring blush and bronzer duo is St. Lucia. It's a gorgeous peachy-pink blush with some gold shimmer running through it. The shimmer is lovely, but not over the top. It's a bit powdery, but I find that the color compliments my skin so well that I don't really mind that. Plus, this has a dark brown bronzer that also has some gold shimmer running through it. It's not my favorite bronzer ever, but having that extra option, if I only have 10 makeup products is an added bonus! haha

5. Eyeshadow

If I can only purchase one eyeshadow palette, than you can bet I am going to go with one of my all time faves. The Urban Decay Naked palette is so incredibly versatile. It wouldn't even cross my mind NOT to pick it up again. It's got a great range of 12 neutral eyeshadows that are so soft and easy to blend. There are so many looks you can create with this one palette. Love it! It also comes with a little mini UD primer potion, which saves me from having to buy an eyeshadow base! Score! haha

6. Eyeliner

This is another one of those products that I would love to own at least two. I love my pencil liners but I love gel liners and liquid liners too! Gah! It's so hard to choose. But, most likely, my first liner purchase would be a pencil liner, and my favorite pencil liner is, without question, the Urban Decay 24/7 liner pencil in the color perversion. It's a super dark black! I love the Urban decay liners because they glide on easily and last forever, even in the water line! Perversion is gorgeous deep dark black. Love it!

7. Mascara

Mascara is my most used product. Even on days when I don't wear makeup, I wear mascara. There are so many amazing mascaras out on the market these days, and choosing just one would be incredibly difficult. Up until recently, I would have easily chosen Covergirl's lash blast mascara. And while I still love that one, I recently found one I like even better! At least for now it's my favorite. It's the Maybelline great lash lots of lashes mascara. It gives me a ton of length and volume, it's not too wet or too dry of a formula. The tapered brush makes it super easy to get into the inner lashes of the eye as well as the bottom lashes. It's just a fantastic mascara, and one of the most inexpensive mascaras out there at just around 5 bucks a tube!

8. Eyebrows

It is SO important to fill in your eyebrows. I never used to do it, and I don't know why, because it makes such a huge difference in the look of your face. Filling in your brows really frames the face and makes the whole look come together. I love the elf eyebrow kit in medium. It's got a tinted brow gel as well as a brow powder and it's the perfect product and the perfect color for me!

9. EOS lip balm in lemon drop

I love lip balm and can't go without it! I love the EOS lip balms, and lemon drop is my favorite because it's got SPF, which is a must have! :) It's great under my lipsticks, or on it's own. It's great protection and moisture for my lips!

10. lipstick

For lipstick, I want something neutral with a nice shine so that I don't need lip gloss (since I didn't leave room for one! haha) My favorite lipstick that meets all of those qualifications is the Rimmel London lipstick in Airy Fairy. It's a great neutral shade that goes with everything, glides on smooth and looks great on my skin tone. It's a must have for any lipstick lover, in my opinion!

So there ya have it! The ten products I would immediately repurchase if I lost all my makeup. Which products would you purchase? I would love to hear from you!!

Tag: Cost of my Face of the Day

I did a post like this a while back. You can see that post here! It goes like this. You do your makeup for the day, and then you go back and look at the products you used and calculate how much all of the products on your face costs you. I think this is a fun little post, so I decided to do it again. here are the products I used on my face today.

Rimmel London Fix and Perfect Pro face primer- $6.36
Revlon Colorstay whipped creme Makeup in nude- $10.97
NYC smooth skin liquid concealer in Light- $3.00
Elf all over cover stick in Ivory- $1.00
Elf High Definition Powder- $6.00
Elf blush in Candid Coral- $3.00
Maybelline Color tattoo in too cool- $4.97
Urban Decay Rollergirl Palette- $13.00
Elf shimmer eyeliner pencil in Black Bandit- $1.00
L'oreal Voluminous million lashes in Black- $7.00
NYC Instant Lash mascara in black- $1.00
Elf wet gloss clear lash and brow mascara- $1.00
EOS lip balm in Sweet Mint- $2.96
NYC Liquid Lip shine in Dusty Rose- $2.27

Total: $63.53

Just like the last time I did this, I am surprised to see such a high total, considering how many items I purchased at such a low price! Especially considering I didn't use a bronzer or a high lighter or any products to fill in my eyebrows, like I normally would. So it would have been much higher with those products added in! Plus, that's without the cost of all the tools I used to apply these products! I used the prices that I could find online for each of these products (except the rollergirl palette, since I remember what I paid for it), so I may not have paid exactly that much for each of the products, but it's close enough! How much does your face of the day cost? Leave me a comment down below and let me know! Or you can do this tag on your own blog post! I tag anyone who wants to do this! Just, please, if you do, link back here to my post!!

The I (heart) drugstore makeup tag

1. What is your favorite drugstore makeup brand? I think anyone who reads my blog will be able to tell that my favorite drugstore brand, and favorite brand overall is E.L.F. affordable prices, tons of great products. What more could a girl ask for? Another great drugstore brand, especially for eye shadows is wet n wild. I also adore lip products from revlon and mascaras from maybelline!

2. What are your favorite face, cheek and lip products? I have fallen in love with the revlon colorstay whipped creme foundation. I want to do a full review on it. It's amazing! My favorite cheek product? I love all blush. Seriously, it's one of my favorite makeup products. I especially am loving the elf baked blushes I just purchased (which you will see in a haul and most likely in a review as well, sooner or later!)

3. Least favorite product?
i don't know. Probably just false lashes because I am not a fan of applying them. Although, I did just get some single lashes from elf not too long ago, and those I do like. So IDK. Probably just any product that I shelled out money for that didn't work great on me.

4. What is the best makeup bargain?
Anything from elf. Also I love this time of year when a lot of the drugstore brands come out with different makeup kits and sets for the holidays!

5. What is your favorite underdog product? (Something you love that often gets overlooked?)
I think a brand that often gets overlooked is LA Colors. It's a very inexpensive brand that is often found at dollar stores, but they have a lot of really great products!

6. A drugstore product that is overpriced? foundations from the drugstore I find are often overpriced.

7. Show your best drugstore dupe(s)!! I am going to devote a whole separate post to this in the near future!

8. Drugstore product that isn't worth the hype? Maybelline the falsies mascara. I feel like I liked it at first, but after a few uses I really started to hate it. It clumps up like crazy for me, and doesn't really offer that much length. Maybe it works good for other people, but for me, it was kind of a flop. Also, the Revlon just bitten kissable balm stains weren't nearly as good as I had hoped they would be!

How much does my FOTD cost?

Recently one of my favorite beauty bloggers NYCmakeuplover1 (you should check out her blog, it's great!) did a post where she looked at her everyday makeup and then calculated how much it costs. Basically, you see what your face is worth. I thought it looked like fun, so I went ahead and did it for my face today!

::The Breakdown::
Elf mineral Infused Face Primer -$6
Elf Flawless Finish Foundation in Sand- $6
Elf all over cover stick in Ivory- $1
NYC smooth skin pressed face powder in Translucent- $3
NYC smooth skin bronzing face powder in sunny- $3
Elf Studio Blush in Pink Passion- $3
Elf Studio Bronzer in Golden- $3
Elf eyebrow kit in Medium- $3
Elf wet gloss Lash and Brow Clear Mascara- $1
Elf eyelid primer- $1
Wet 'n Wild Color Icon Trio in Walking on eggshells- $3
Elf Eyeliner Pen in Coffee- $1
Covergirl Lash Blast Volume Waterproof mascara in Black Brown- $6
EOS lip balm in Lemon Drop- $2
Elf lipstick in Voodoo- $1
Elf luscious liquid lipstick in Bark- $1

Total: $44

It's actually more than I thought. I used a ton of very affordable products. All of the Elf products are 3 dollars or less. The wet n wild trio of eyeshadows was very affordable. I guess even the most affordable of products add up. Keep in mind, these prices are what it would cost o purchase all of these products for full price. I didn't necessarily pay full price for each of these items. So, my total might be less, or more, depending on the deals I got, the shipping I paid, etc. So, to be fair, I just looked up the prices online and went with the price each item was listed as, sometimes rounding up or down to get an even price.

I would love to know what your face is worth! If you do a post similar to this one, leave a link to it in the comments below. Or, just tell me what products you used today and what the total worth of them is!

Be sure to check out NYCmakeuplover1 if you haven't done so already. She's got a great beauty blog!

10 products I would repurchase tag

So, the premise of this post is this. I wake up one morning and find that all of my makeup has disappeared. I'm not sure what happened to it. It was stolen maybe? haha. But, I can go out and repurchase only 10 products. Again, not sure why. I didn't write the tag. So, I have to decide which 10 products I would repurchase. I am assuming there is no price limit, since no one who has done this tag mentions one, so that makes it a little easier. So yeah, which 10 makeup products would I go out and purchase to begin my makeup collection again?

I have a couple of higher end products. Products that I feel, despite their high price tag, are worth the investment. The rest are drugstore and very inexpensive items. I have talked about all of these products before on this blog. I love them and they are favorites. Hence the reason I would go out and snag them back up! So let's get started.

1. NYC Smooth Skin pressed powder in Translucent- this powder is my all time favorite pressed powder. I prefer pressed powder over loose powder because it's simply not as messy. As you can see I have hit pan on this powder, and that's because I use it practically everyday. It's great for setting my make up, and for touching up throughout the day. It's translucent so it always matches my skin tone, and it's nice and light so it doesn't cake up on me. The price point on this product is great. I believe I purchased it for less than 3 dollars, and it has lasted me about 9 months now and it's nowhere near used up yet!

2. Urban Decay Naked Palette- this one is sort of cheating, because it's one product but you get 12 different eyeshadows out of the deal. I debated between choosing this one or the Naked 2 palette, but I chose this one simply because I feel like I can do a lot more with this one in terms of using it for daytime look and nighttime looks. I love this eyeshadow palette. The colors are all various neutrals. they can be combined in dozens of different combinations, and it even comes with a handy brush. This product cost me 50 dollars. Which is a lot. But that breaks down to about 4 dollars a shadow, which isn't bad at all. Especially considering how soft and easily blended these are. I highly recommend this palette! Urban Decay is one of my favorite cosmetics companies.

3. Covergirl lash blast volume waterproof mascara in black-brown- this is one of my all time favorite mascaras. It glides on smooth. there is no clumping. it gives my lashes tons of volume and some length. The color is the perfect shade for day looks or night looks. And it's waterproof which means it doesn't budge til I am ready to take it off. Love this mascara. This one runs about 6-8 dollars, depending on where you purchase it and can be found at most drug stores.

4. EOS lip balm in Lemon Drop- I have talked about this product so much I might as well get hired as an advertiser. But it's because this lip balm is just awesome. I love how smooth it goes on. I love the smell. I love the shape. I love the fact that it has SPF. There's nothing bad about this product. I think I paid around 3 dollars for it, and it has lasted me so long and still has tons of use left. It's a great balm!

5. Urban Decay 24/7 glide on eyeliner pencil in perversion- If I could only have one eyeliner, this would be it. I have a zillion eyeliner pencils, but this one is by far my favorite. It's the blackest black I have found in pencil form. It glides on so easily. Doesn't drag or pull and lasts forever! I purchased this in a set of 5 eyeliners for 19 dollars from Urban Decay during a sale. It was a great deal, because buying just this one pencil full is 19 dollars. But I would purchase this again, even if I had to pay full price. It's that good. Sure there are other really great eyeliners out there for much less. But nothing that I have found that tops this one. I think it's worth the investment. Especially if you, like me, tend to wear eyeliner in pencil form all the time, rather than liquid or gel eyeliner.

6. Revlon Colorburst lip butter in Creme Brulee- when going through my makeup, at first I wasn't going to choose a lip stick. But then I remembered this one and couldn't leave it out. I love the color and the consistency of this lip product. It's the perfect nude color. The finish is beautiful. I have almost used this little baby up and I will be purchasing another as soon as I do. This one cost me I believe around 7 or 8 dollars.

7. Elf tinted moisurizer in Nude- I debated about whether I wanted to do a foundation or a tinted moisturizer, and I decided on a tinted moisturizer just because I really enjoy this one. The nude color is the perfect shade for me (I originally bought porcelain, and I still have it and use it, but nude is a much better match for me). It's got enough coverage to even out my skin tone without being too heavy like foundations can sometimes be. This tinted moisturizer has SPF which is, of course, an awesome bonus. I love it. And for 3 dollars, you really can't lose.

8. Urban Decay 24/7 concealer pencil in CIA- another Urban Decay Product. you guys are probably thinking geez is this a budget beauty blog or not. But this is another one of those products that I think is worth the investment. I paid just 5 dollars for this concealer when it was on sale. And I love it. It's so creamy and easy to blend. It's the perfect shade for under y eyes because it's a couple shades lighter than my skin so it really brightens up this area. I only paid 5 dollars for it, but I would definitely pay the full price for this in the future. It's another one of those products that I just think is worth the investment.

9. Elf contouring blush and bronzing powder- I love love love this duo. I cannot say enough good things about it. The blush side is a lovely peachy pink with gold shimmer. I have talked about this blush a ton. It's my number one favorite blush. The bronzer side is a little dark for me, but definitely useable with a light hand. I will buy this over and over everytime I use it up. I love it! And for 3 dollars you can't beat it! They say it's a dupe for the Nars Orgasm and Laguna duo. I have no clue if that's true or not, but it's a pretty darn good little duo, dupe or not.

10. Elf wet gloss lash and brow clean mascara- this is one of my must have items. I use this to keep my eyebrows under control. My brows tend to go all over the place if I don't use this stuff. It holds the brows in place, and it really makes a difference in my overall look. It only costs a dollar, works great. What else can I say?

So that's it. That's my 10 products I would repurchase. Which items would you purchase if you woke up one day and found all your makeup had disappeared? I tag anyone who wants to do this, and if you do it, please leave a comment and link me to it so that I can be sure to read/watch it! Thanks for reading!

What's in my bag?

I am sorry I haven't posted in a while. my oldest son is out of school for summer vacation now and things have been so busy! But I'm back now, with a new type of blog post!

One of the most popular "tag" videos/blog posts I see are what's in my bag posts. The premise is simply to show people what you currently have in your bag. So I dumped out the contents of my bag to show you all!

I change purses quite often (I have a pretty decent size handbag collection) but the bag I am carrying at the moment is this one.

It's a cute purple vinyl bag with gathered details. My mother in law actually purchased this one for me from a garage sale! Score! Now for the contents.

I've got a make up bag, an invitation to the wedding I went to yesterday, a bottle of ibuprofen, my prescription bottle of ativan (for anxiety attacks!), my purple wallet (I got it from walmart), a Michigan pen I bought when I was in Ann Arbor last week, a bottle of perfume- Avon scentini in Rose fizz, a foldable hair brush and lastly, my keys and pepper spray. When I go out my phone is also in my bag, but since I am at home, it's here next to me! :)

The contents of my makeup bag change on a daily basis, but inside it today I have: Elf blush and bronzing duo, Maybelline baby lips in grape vine, Maybelline color sensational lipstick in totally toffee, elf luscious liquid lipstick in pink lemonade, Elf lipstick in classy and the NYC smooth skin translucent face powder.

I did not photograph the items in my wallet, because there's lots of personal information in there. But inside my wallet is my Identification card, insurance cards for my children, a CVS extracare card, an ulta beauty card, A ticket stub from the NKOTBSB concert I went to last summer, 2 dollar bills and a handful of change. lol.

So that's it! What did you think of this post? Leave me a comment below and let me know!

7 Deadly Sins of Beauty Tag

TAG QUESTIONS:

1. GREED: What is your most inexpensive beauty item? What is your most expensive?
My most inexpensive products come from Elf. I have a lot of products from their one dollar line. My most expensive beauty item is my urban decay naked 2 palette.

2. WRATH: What beauty products do you have a love/hate relationship with? What product has been the hardest to get?

I have a love hate relationship with brow products. My eyebrows in their natural state are very light and sparse. I like to fill them in, but it almost never turns out exactly like I want, and it's a pain to get them looking perfect and even. The product that was hardest for me to get my hands on is probably the Revlon nail polish in scandalous. I wanted it back before the name changed and it was still facets of fuchsia. I looked everywhere for months. Finally snagged it when they re-released.

3. GLUTTONY: What are your most delicious beauty products?
the elf super glossy lip shine in watermelon tastes yummy, and also the maybelline baby lips all smell delicious!

4. SLOTH: What beauty product do you neglect, due to laziness?
eyebrow powders/pencils. As I said above, I love the way they look, but I feel like they are a pain to apply. Also, eyebrow grooming, too. lol.

5. PRIDE: What beauty product gives you the most self confidence?
Mascara. I am never fully dressed until I am wearing mascara. Even if I have not a lick of make up anywhere, I at least have to wear mascara. It makes my eyes wider and more awake, and I feel much more confident when I am wearing it.

6. LUST: What attributes do you find most attractive in the opposite sex?

What does this have to do with makeup? I find my husband most attractive. He's got dark hair and dark eyes. He's strong. He's sweet. He's compassionate and a great father. What's not to like?

7. ENVY: What items would you most like to receive as a gift?
Any Urban Decay products. Having the naked 2 palette has allowed me to experiment with their products and I love them, but they are expensive, and not something I will be splurging on. At least not often! Would love to get their products as a gift though. Also, perfume. Not something I buy for myself, but would love to get any type of fragrance as a gift!

Trends I don't follow

There is a tag video going around youtube and it's the trends I don't follow tag. Now, I obviously don't make videos, but I don't see any reason why this can't be translated to blog form so here we go. You're supposed to list 2 beauty trends, 2 fashion trends and 2 just random trends. So let's get started with the beauty trends.

The first beauty trend that I do not follow is false eyelashes. I see people all the time wearing false lashes, and while I don't hate the way it look on a lot of people, I hate the way they look on me. I have very sad sparse short little eyelashes, and if I try to wear even the most natural looking false lashes I look like a freak. Not to mention the fact that I have the absolute worst time trying to get them on. Some people, especially on youtube, make applying them so simple, but it's a real struggle for me to get them on and like I said once I do, I look like a freak so I just don't bother with them.

The second beauty trend I don't follow is tanning. I don't tan in the summer, I don't go to tanning beds. I don't use self tanner, or any sort of fake tan products. I just embrace my super duper pale skin. I do use a bronzer to warm up my face and neck on occasion but that's as far as I go. I think that fair skin is really beautiful and natural looking, and It's a hell of a lot healthier than exposing myself to harmful rays of the sun. I think that self tanners are just a pain in the butt to use, and often look orange and streaky. So yeah, no tanners for me!

Next I will move on to fashion trends. The first fashion trend that I do not follow is Ugg boots. These are ridiculously popular and trendy, and I think that they are absolutely hideous, and way over-hyped and way over priced. I just don't see why anyone would wear them, but to each his own, I guess!

The second fashion trend that I don't follow is wearing crop tops. For obvious reasons. My body is not where I want it to be, so there is no way I am showing my stomach, but even with a camisole or something underneath crop tops look weird on me. The proportion of them, is just wrong for my body type and it's not at all attractive.

Lastly are two random trends. This one will come as no shock to anyone. I do not watch Jersey shore, or american idol or any of those other reality tv shows that are so unbelievably popular. I just don't find them at all entertaining. In fact, I don't watch much television at all. It's just not me.

I can't really think of a second random trend I don't follow. In general I tend to not follow trends at all. I mean, if I really like something and it happens to be trendy than that's cool, but I don't generally do something JUST because it's trendy. So yeah. Feel free to do this if you want, and leave me comments below! I promise more beauty related entries are coming soon!

Top 11 Products of 2011 plus some extras

I was going to do my december favorites, but then I realized I didn't really have any favorites. For the month of December, I just continued to use all of my favorites from previous months. So I decided to do a grand finale. Favorites that I used A lot throughout the year last year. So here we go!

#1. Favorite Lipstick- The lipstick that I wore the most in 2011 was Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in the color totally toffee. It's a great pinky nude shade that goes well with absolutely every look. The perfect My lips but better color, and I wore it a ton! Around 6 dollars

#2. Favorite Lip Gloss- By far the lip gloss that I reached for most often in 2011 is NYC Liquid Lip Shine in Dusty Rose. It's a nice stand alone shade, because it's very opaque, but it also looks great layered over a lipstick. It's a great dusty pink shade with gold shimmer, and looks great with my complexion, in my opinion. Around 2 dollars

#3. Favorite Lip Balm- Hands down my favorite lip balm for 2011 is the EOS lip balm in Lemon Drop. I have raved about these plenty on the blog, so I won't go into detail other than to say that these are awesome, and I plan to invest in many more flavors in 2012. Around 3 dollars.

#4. Favorite Face Powder- My favorite face powder of 2011, and the best face powder I have used to date in the NYC smooth skin pressed face powder in translucent. It does not break me out at all, and it sets my make up and lasts a long time. It's a great powder at only around 3 dollars!

#5. Favorite Bronzer- Again, I have to give this one to NYC. I love the NYC smooth skin bronzing face powder in sunny. It's a great Matte bronzer. It's light enough that I can use it all over my face, but build-able enough that I can use it for contouring. And the price ia right around 3 dollars. Can't beat that!

#6. Favorite Blush- the blush that I liked the most in 2011 is the blush from the E.L.F. Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder. The bronzer in this duo is too dark and muddy for me, except in the summer when I already have a tan, but the blush is gorgeous. It's got some shimmer, which I am not always crazy about in the colder months, but I like a lot in the summer. It's a light pinky peach shade with gold shimmer and accents tanned skin beautifully. $3

#7. Favorite Eyeshadow Primer- Hands down the best eyeshadow primer I will ever use is the E.L.F. Essential eyelid primer. This stuff is amazing. So creamy and makes my shadow last all day. I use it every single day and it's one of my most valued products! Best part? It only costs #1!!

#8. Favorite Mascara- The mascara that I used and enjoyed the most last year is the
NYC Instant Lash Mascara in black. I didn't experiment much with mascaras last year, but this is the ones I used the most so it gets the spotlight. It's great for darkening your lashes and does give some length. Plus, it's only a dollar!

#9. Favorite eye liner- My favorite eye liner of 2011 is the E.L.F. studio cream eyeliner in black. Easy to apply, super dark, great lasting power! $3.

#10. Favorite Eyeshadow palette- this will come as no surprise to anyone who has ever read my blog. I talk about this palette all the time. It's the BH cosmetics 120 color palette. It has 120 different shades of eyeshadow with tons of different finishes. If you can't find something you like in this palette, than you have a serious problem! $25.

#11. Favorite nail Polish- I expanded my nail polish collection a TON last year. I won't go into my favorite nail polish color- how could I ever choose? But my favorite brand of nail polish is NYC. I love the formula. I love the color selection. and I love the price!! $1-$3.

Bonus!!

Favorite shampoo and conditioner- L'oreal Eversleek shampoo and conditioner
Favorite Body wash- Softsoap body butter coconut scrub
Favorite Fragrance- bodycology brown sugar Vanilla
